UNC Online lets you register for online courses across the UNC system. In order to register for a UNC Online course, you must first enroll at one of our 16 campuses. If you are notcurrently enrolled as a student, you may enroll as a visiting student.
The UNC Class Search tool displays the courses updated daily. The University Catalog is the official record of course descriptions. The Directory of Classes is a PDF uploaded weekly. If you receive an error message that there is a restriction on a course, but that is not noted in the class description or class notes, you can contact the teaching department for further clarification. Why did ConnectCarolina time out? ConnectCarolina times out after 20 minutes of inactivity.
Due to continued pandemic concerns, the onlyproctoring options are: (1) some UNC System university testing centers will be available with limited availability and capacity and (2) online proctoring (Examity) will be available 24/7/365.
All materials for undergraduate course proposals (numbered 50 – 699) must be submitted in CIM by October 15 to be approved, effective with the following fall semester (to align with the beginning of the academic year), and included in the next Undergraduate Catalog.
The following course proposals are reviewed by the Administrative Boards of the General College and College of Arts and Sciences and its Course Committee:
Courses that are revised or deleted/inactivated must have a fall effective date (not spring) to align with the beginning of the academic year.
The UNC Schedule Planner tool in your ConnectCarolina Student Center is useful for planning your class schedule using real-time class data.
Historical Course Records Search The Historical Course Records Search provides data on courses offered from 2016 to the present, by term, including the number of sections offered and the enrollment in each section. It does not predict course offerings or enrollment in future terms.
First, go to your ConnectCarolina Student Center. Click the Enrollment Shopping Cart link located under the Academics area. Clicking this link will send you to your Shopping Cart. To search for classes, click the Search button (located in the Find Classes area).
Remember that you can enroll in up to your maximum credit hour limit, which is 17 credits for undergraduate students until open enrollment (18 credits). The enrollments are processed alphabetically and then numerically, which is important to keep i mind if you place checkmarks for classes totaling more than 17 credits.
A yellow triangle indicates a class that is closed, but has a wait-list available. You can still select classes with yellow triangles and add yourself to the wait-list. A green circlemeans a class with available seats. You can add classes with green circles to your cart and enroll in them.
The most basic way to search for a class is by Course Subject and Course Number. Every subject has an abbreviated subject code. If you do not know the abbreviation for the subject you would like to look for a class in, click the Select Subject button to go to a list of subject abbreviations. Class Search Criteria.
Add > Enroll is better used when you only need to add one class and when that one class is the only one in your shopping cart, or when you wish to try and enroll in a large group of classes in your shopping car to see which classes you can get into. Return to top.
HIST 127 006 has multiple recitation sections, could only be added to your shopping cart once with one recitation section.
A semester is tallied for each full multiple of 15 cumulative credit hours earned at UNC‐Chapel Hill in fall or spring terms (not summer terms) in which you are enrolled as a part‐time student through Part‐time Classroom Studies. Transfer credits awarded for courses taken at other colleges.
If a department is restricting seats to a specific group of students (academic level, major, etc.), and you do not meet that reserve capacity, you will receive this enrollment error message.
Green circle = open seats in class, check class notes to make sure you meet any restrictions for the class. Yellow triangle = class is full but seats are available on the waitlist. Blue square = class is full and there is no waitlist option.
