If the instructor of the course feels you are underprepared for a graduate level course, they may deny your request.

Course clearance for lower-division courses will only be given based on the official major listed on GOLD. We are unable to clear courses for students newly declaring the Pre-Major.

Once courses are closed, the only way GOLD will allow you to add a class is to enter in an “approval” code. This is a unique 4-digit code that your instructor gives only to YOU.
For Communication classes - The auto- add feature will be enabled as soon as the waitlist becomes active. At that time, if space becomes available in a class and you are already declared a full Communication major, the waitlist system will automatically add students based on unit standing. Students enrolled in upper division or lower division communication classes: If you do not attend class the first day, you will likely be dropped from the class ! Diplomas will be held for student who have blocks on their account. Students must contact the BARC Office by email to [email protected] to resolve any blocks. Students who have a University Center block must contact the University Center by email to [email protected].
Students who do not clear all blocks before the initial mailing of all diplomas will have their diploma held at the Office of the Registrar.
Diploma Notarization. Diplomas are mailed several months after the end of the term in which the degree (s) were awarded. Degree candidates who need official verification of degree (s) awarded before the diploma is ready may order official transcripts or verifications via GOLD.
UCSB is not responsible for diplomas which are lost or damaged in the mailing process. For diplomas lost or damaged in the mailing process and within one year of graduation, please contact our office at [email protected] for more information.
However, students may order a replacement diploma if the original was lost, damaged, or they have changed their legal name. Order may be place online through GOLD.
Students should also contact the Office of the Registrar to request an accent or special character on a diploma. Accents or special characters are only added to the diploma name by special request.
