Keyboard shortcut: " LMB " to place an object, " RMB " to rotate objects, " MMB " scroll raises/lowers the height of objects from the ground. Movements in Simple Editing mode is done using the four direction pointers lower right. A "green" highlight indicates that object is good to go and can be placed where it is.
After getting to know the camera controls, you can focus on the exciting part: building the track! Race tracks in Trackmania are built by connecting track pieces so the course can be completed from start to finish.

To do this, you will have to race your own track and make it start to finish. This process is called validation. In the bottom left corner of the screen is a flag that indicates if your track was completed or not. When the flag is red, your track is most likely missing a start and finish.
You can move the camera by clicking and holding the left mouse button while moving the mouse. The camera position can also be changed by moving the mouse to the edge of the screen, however, this might not always work if you are running Trackmania in borderless windowed mode.
As you come closer, start steering into the direction of the turn. You need to steer for roundabout half a second before you can start to drift. To begin sliding, tap the brake while still steering. Once you're in the game, press the ESC key and there select INVITE FRIENDS and select your friend in the now visible Uplay menu. Or you create a new one. Doing well in an Official Race will also reward you with Coppers. The easiest way, however, is simply to log on each day. You get 50 coppers every day, more if you have Trackmania Original and/or Sunrise linked to your account.
When you respawn, you go to the last checkpoint and continue with whatever time you have. If you restart, you go back to the start and begin fresh. If you respawn before you hit a checkpoint, you will act like you have restarted. There is an in-game currency for Trackmania: Coppers.
Trackmania is a competetive game. As such, there are three values given to a player. These are the Medal Count, Skill Points, and Ladder Points. You can never lose value in any of these categories.

There is definitely a memory leak in Trackmania. You are very likely to encounter memory leak issue. The game starts lagging after you play for a while. Your time to face this problem may be earlier or later depending on the amount of Ram.
