Contestants must make their way to the center of the obstacle via one of the three green arms, exit on the red arm, and then cross the Unstable Table (a platform that tilts periodically) in order to cross to the finish line. The center hub may also spray water to make the platforms more slippery or to distract contestants lurking at the center.
Four Sweeper arms, two pairs of Windshield Wipers on only one side of the obstacle, and usually foam or water jets seek to impede the contestants' progress. The sweeper arms can only be dodged by jumping over them. If a contestant wipes out or goes under a sweeper arm, he/she will have to start the whole thing over again.

Based in Santa Clarita, California, the ranch is the base for the huge crash course that contestants brave on Wipeout 2021. In north Los Angeles, the ranch is a large enough greenery to place all of the face-planters, flying ride at the start, and wipe-out equipment.
Michael Paredes lost consciousness after falling from the show's obstacle course on Nov. 18. He died a day later. A coroner's report, released on Friday, showed that Paredes died of a heart attack and that he suffered from undetected coronary artery disease.
