Students may drop a course until the end of the add/drop period. Courses dropped between the end of the add/drop period and the end of the tenth week of the term are considered a withdrawal. Courses that are dropped do not appear on the student's academic record.

You will need to complete and submit the Online Withdrawal Form. You can use the online form during the first nine weeks of the fall and spring semester. Once the form is completed and submitted, the Office of the Registrar, the Office of Academic Advising, Office of Financial and Student Accounting will be notified.
No drops are permitted after the Last Day to Drop with a W, even if the credits are not needed. Consult the Drop and Withdrawal deadlines at Semester Calendar. If reducing enrollment below 12 credits, only courses not needed for degree completion may be dropped or withdrawn.
Students often ask if a grade of D is passing or not. A letter grade of D is normally considered passing. However, it is strongly recommended that students retake D's in math, science, and engineering courses right away. In most cases, you can have the D or F grade removed from your GPA by repeating the course.
Students may withdraw from a course with any of the following grades: Withdraw (W), Withdraw Pass (WP), Withdraw Fail (WF). A grade of W indicates that the student withdrew from a class with no effect to the student's GPA.
What if I drop below 12 credit hours? Dropping below 12 hours means that you are no longer a full-time student. This can have serious consequences for housing, scholarships, financial aid and grants, sports, and insurance coverage, among other things.
Requirement of Full-time Enrollment Matriculated students are expected to enroll in 15 credits per semester and required to enroll in at least 12 credits per semester to maintain full-time status.
Though many people do take 18 credits in a semester, it is your individual experience and no one else's. An 18-credit semester may be worth losing some sleep over — but it's not worth losing your sanity. Pay attention to warning signs that you're doing too much and stop yourself short before it worsens.
Undergraduate students may drop courses until the end of the eighth full week of the term without academic penalty, provided the student follows the change of course procedures, as described previously. Courses dropped between the eighth calendar day and the eighth week of the term are assigned a "W" grade.
