At the heart of this initiative are training and licensure requirements for the Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement, which core academic teachers of ELLs and principals/assistant principals and supervisors/directors who supervise or evaluate such teachers must obtain.
Educators who take and pass the SEI MTEL are eligible to receive the SEI Endorsement. Information about the test, including registration procedures and preparation materials, can be found at SEI MTEL Information webpage.
Possession of an ESL license. Educators who possess an ESL license are automatically eligible for the SEI Endorsement and will receive it once they apply. Information about licensing can be found on the webpage for the Office of Educator Licensure.
This graduate course of study affords educators the opportunity to investigate the context for English language learner (ELL ) education in Massachusetts and the implications of federal and state legislation regarding equitable access to curricula, informed sheltered English immersion practices and instruction, and administration and interpretation of assessment of diverse ELLs. This course provides required examination of factors that impact the learner of English including, developmental, cultural, social, emotional, behavioral, and limited interrupted or interrupted education (SLIFE/SIFE).

Boat Massachusetts is a recognized safety course that meets the National Boating Education Standards and is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators. The Boat Massachusetts course is available in two formats.
There is also a hybrid format that consists of an online education course, followed by an abbreviated in-person session with a proctored exam. There is an associated fee for the online program. Classes are for adults and youth 12 years of age and older.
All graduates in the 12 through 15 year-old age group will be issued a safety certificate allowing them to operate a motorboat without adult supervision, as required by state law. The same is true for 16 and 17 year old youth who wish to operate a personal watercraft.
