Students who drop individual courses without withdrawing entirely from Purdue before the sixth week of class may expect that tuition will be adjusted to the most recent credit hour enrollment. No tuition adjustments will be made to individual course drops after the sixth week of enrollment.

Once the approvals are submitted, you will automatically be withdrawn from the course with the W or WF grade as assigned by the faculty. You will no longer see the course in your schedule when you return to the Scheduling Assistant. You can confirm the withdrawn status for the course by viewing your Detail Schedule in myPurdue.

Courses dropped during the first two weeks of the fall and spring semesters will not appear on your academic record. Schedule revision dates for summer sessions are adjusted proportionally. Student Drop Students wishing to withdraw from a course would log into myPurdue and navigate to Scheduling Assistant from the Registration tab. If you are not in Scheduling Assistant, click on the link on the left side of the page. Find the class you want to drop.
Students who withdraw from Purdue University during the fall and spring semesters will receive a prorated assessment of tuition and fees according to the following schedule.

If you are interested in distance learning courses, please speak with your academic advisor. A withdrawal grade (W, WF, or WN) doesn't technically have a negative effect on your academic standing at Purdue. They are not actual grades, so they cannot have an impact on your GPA.
Grade mode Passing is equivalent to at a minimum grade of C- had a letter grade been awarded. Students may elect to use the pass/not-pass option for no more than 20% of the 120 credit requirement for graduation and for no more than two courses per academic year (Fall-Summer).
Dropping Courses You may drop a course prior to or during the first 7 calendar days of the course without any financial obligation. If you drop a course beyond the first 7 calendar days, you will incur 100 percent financial responsibility for the course.
Declining an Admission Offer If you wish to decline (cancel) your admission offer, you may submit the application cancel form within your Purdue application portal.
Log into myPurdue.purdue.edu and from Registration tab, select Use Scheduling Assistant. From the Add/Drop courses box, search for the course to add and then select Submit Schedule button. Student will receive a message stating that the course cannot be scheduled, but the student can request additional approvals.
Purdue University's gap year policy allows freshmen to delay enrollment for one year from their original entry term. Students who need to delay entry for more than one year must reapply for admission. If your gap year request is approved, you do not need to apply for admission to enroll the following year.

NP= Not Pass. This means that a student will receive no credit for the course and the course, if needed, will need to be repeated.
To determine your overall Grade Point Average, divide the total number of Quality Points for all your courses divided by the total number of Credit Hours.

You may modify your schedule during the first week of the fall and spring semesters without financial implications. It does not initially affect your GPA nor do you earn credit for the class. Check with the instructor if this is a possibility. If you have a Military Call-Up, you will need to provide a copy of your military orders to the Veterans Success Center.

It is a student’s responsibility to be aware of the deadlines to add, drop, or modify a course. These deadlines are set by the Office of the Registrar and can always be found on their academic calendars page.
Study abroad students should be particularly aware of this 24 credit limit. Students taking a foreign language course for the purpose of receiving back credit (i.e., taking 20200 to get credit for 10100 - 20200) cannot use the Pass/No Pass option.
International students are required to be enrolled full-time in order to maintain their visa status. Although a grade of W or WF does not affect your GPA, be aware that a pattern of Ws and/or WFs can blemish your academic record.
Depending on the date, several signatures may be required in order to add, drop, or modify a course. Consequentially, students should not wait until the last minute to start the process as it may not be completed in time.
Withdrawing from a class is something that should be carefully considered. If you are adding a course after the semester has started, you are solely responsible for any material that you have missed. Instructors are not required to make allowances for students who start a course late.
Pass/No Pass Grade Option. ECE students may take general education or complementary elective courses with the pass/no pass grade option. Students are not permitted to take any engineering, mathematics, or science course required for an ECE degree using this grade option.
The method of offering a class is imperative in determining the correct way to add the course to your schedule. This is especially true for distance learning course offerings.

In addition, regardless of whether or not you retake and complete a course in which you previously earned a withdrawal grade, the withdrawal grade will remain in your academic record permanently.
Students should be informed of any potential consequences of changing to part-time academic status should dropping a class put the student below 12 credit hours. International students are required to be enrolled full time in order to maintain their visa status.

In case of examination conflicts with a scheduled evening course the conflict should be resolved by the course instructors, provided that the student informs them of the conflict at least a week before the exam. If the instructors cannot resolve the conflict, the scheduled evening course takes priority.
International students may not use more than three credits of online learning toward the minimum required for a full course of study. Flipped courses do not count as online learning since these courses require the student's physical presence.
Other conflicts should be resolved between the instructor and the student. Reasons for conflicts should be taken under careful consideration by the instructor. These can include, but are not limited to, participating in athletic or theatrical events, employment, and other mandatory responsibilities.
The student must achieve a permanent grade in the course no later than one year after the incomplete is given , or the incomplete grade will revert to a failing grade. A student will not be permitted to enroll in a course in a future semester for a course in which they have a current I, PI or SI grade.
Deans of schools may refuse to accept as credit toward graduation any course that was completed 10 or more years previously. Former students shall be notified immediately of all such decisions upon re-entering. Substitutions of courses required for graduation may be made by the dean of the school conferring the degree.
If you have been dropped for the second time, you may not reapply to Purdue until you have been away for at least one full academic year (fall and spring) and completed at least 24 semester credit hours at another regionally accredited institution.
If you have been dropped for the first time, you may not reapply to Purdue until you have been away for at least one full semester (fall or spring) and completed at least 12 semester credit hours at another regionally accredited institution. The 12 credit hours must be taken during a single fall or spring academic term.
If a grade is changed because of a reporting error, your GPA will be recalculated, which may affect the drop decision. Exceptions. You may be eligible for an exception if, You have 15 or fewer credit hours to complete your degree and can take all of your remaining courses in a single semester.
