This is my favourite quote from the HP series. For me it gives validation to those things that happen within us and not in the external world. Our feelings, how some experiences affect us, powerful and persisting thoughts, hope... all of that, good or bad, we like it or not are part of the reality we live in.
“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” – My Geek Wisdom.
Harry Potter : Is this all real? Or is it just happening inside my head? Professor Albus Dumbledore : Of course it's happening inside your head, Harry. Why should that mean that it's not real?
“If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.” “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”
“Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head?” Dumbledore beamed at him, and his voice sounded loud and strong in Harry's ears even though the bright mist was descending again, obscuring his figure. “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”
“Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself.” “I'm hoping to do some good in the world!” “I mean, you could claim that anything's real if the only basis for believing in it is that nobody's proved it doesn't exist!” “Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn't mean we all have!”
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live" Context: Upon finding Harry gazing longingly into the Mirror of Erised — which shows anyone who looks into it their deepest desire — Dumbledore tells Harry that he is going to move the mirror before warning him not to go searching for it again.
Hogwarts is all in Harry's head. Oh, and the Dursleys? They're actually Harry's real family and he made up Lily and James Potter in his head.
Kingsley: "The last words Albus Dumbledore spoke to the pair of us?" Lupin: "Harry is the best hope we have. Trust him."
