Lawrence is enthusiastic about his arduous mission to Arabia: "Of course I'm the man for the job," he tells Dryden. But then: "What is the job, by the way?" Lawrence's dangerous mission is to "find Prince Feisal" (Alec Guinness), try to acquire Feisal's support, and serve as an emissary/liasion between the British and the Arabs.

Bittersweet Ending/Downer Ending: At the end of the movie, Lawrence has succeeded in reaching and taking Damascus with his Arab cavalry. He was also unsuccessful in uniting the Arab tribes, was tortured by the enemy, and his relationship with Sherif Ali ends with Ali storming out of his life in tears.
"Do not try to do too much with your own hands. Better the Arabs do it tolerably than that you do it perfectly. It is their war, and you are to help them, not to win it for them."
When he returns with him, Sherrif Ali says to him: “Truly, for some men nothing is written unless they write it.” Great leaders have this deep sense of belief, purpose and commitment. For them, nothing is determined, nothing “written.” Possibilities and what seems impossible is in their hands to mold and create.May 11, 2014
Lawrence, accompanied by eight others, traveled 160 miles across the Sinai Peninsula via the Mitla Pass to Suez, in 49 hours. At Ismailia Station, Lawrence convinced Burmester and Admiral Wemyss to send HMIS Dufferin to Aqaba with food, bringing back the prisoners on the return trip.
Lawrence was well suited to his liaison role. His pre-war experience meant that he understood the region and the language. He was able to motivate the Arab tribesmen and identified Feisal as the most successful leader in the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire.
Due to his knowledge of the native Bedouin tribes, British Lieutenant T.E. Lawrence (Peter O'Toole) is sent to Arabia to find Prince Faisal (Alec Guinness) and serve as a liaison between the Arabs and the British in their fight against the Turks. With the aid of native Sherif Ali (Omar Sharif), Lawrence rebels against the orders of his superior officer and strikes out on a daring camel journey across the harsh desert to attack a well-guarded Turkish port.Lawrence of Arabia / Film synopsis
The rescue and the execution of Gasim are based on two separate incidents, which were conflated for dramatic reasons. The film shows Lawrence representing the Allied cause in the Hejaz almost alone, with Colonel Brighton (Anthony Quayle) the only British officer there to assist him.

Though not a particularly large battle (the Arab rebels had about 5000 men with them against less than a thousand Ottoman defenders), the Battle of Aqaba was important because it came shortly after the Arabs had suffered their first serious defeat of their World War I revolt, and because it allowed the Arabs to link ...Jul 6, 2019
Colonel Thomas Edward Lawrence CB DSO (16 August 1888 – 19 May 1935) was a British archaeologist, army officer, diplomat, and writer, who became renowned for his role in the Arab Revolt (1916–1918) and the Sinai and Palestine Campaign (1915–1918) against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War.
Lawrence's overriding aim was to help the Arabs achieve military success that would lead to post-war self-government. In June 1917, the Arab forces won their first major victory, seizing Aqaba, a strategically important Red Sea port. Success continued as they gradually made their way north.
In some workplaces, OJT through job shadowing and hands-on practice may be sufficient preparation for the role. Companies often use the standalone approach for roles that are not particularly complicated or if you already have experience in your position.
On-the-job training is instruction for employees that takes place at work. OJT typically involves a combination of observing others and hands-on experience completing tasks under the supervision of a training manager, coworker or outsourced professional trainer. When undergoing OJT, you learn the processes and procedures your employer uses.
Improved retention. Employees are also more likely to retain the information they learn while in a hands-on setting. OJT can contribute to improved job performance and satisfaction since engaged training can make you more likely to feel confident and competent at work.
Training on the job can help employees feel more confident in their skills. When employees feel competent in the workplace, companies are less likely to experience turnover due to someone quitting or not meeting performance expectations.
The purpose of OJT is to prepare you for your position. The instruction and hands-on practice you complete as part of the training can help you develop the skills, competencies and knowledge you need to carry out your role at the company or organization.
OJT speeds up the learning process and reduces the likelihood of need correction once you’re finished with your training. Instead of having employees make assumptions about general practices and procedures in the industry, you can communicate exact standards quickly.
With a structured OJT program, the employer has a plan for how a new employee progresses through various training steps. This plan often includes a checklist of tasks, details about who will supervise each task and a list of the desired goals of the training. Some on-the-job training programs also include a designated training supervisor or a contract the employee must sign to fulfill their training.
Think back to the necessary technical skills listed on the job description and remind the interviewer of your expertise, add in some soft skills that haven’t been mentioned yet, such as your ability to problem solve or your dependability. But keep in mind you’ll need to provide some proof (more on that next).
Chances are, other candidates have similar credentials as your own. Stand out with a rare combination of experiences or advanced expertise in a certain area.
Prove yourself by showing you’ve already visualized your role in the company and have thought of solutions to existing problems. It’s also a big plus to point out your ability to contribute from day one. Since training can be a prolonged pain point, this could be just what you need to gain a competitive edge over other interviewees.
T.E. Lawrence: Sherif Ali, so long as the Arabs fight tribe against tribe, so long will they be a little people, a silly people, greedy, barbarous, and cruel as you are. A quote can be a single line from one character or a memorable dialog between several characters. Please make your quotes accurate.
Young men make wars, and the virtues of war are the virtues of young men. Courage and hope for the future. Then old men make the peace. And the vices of peace are the vices of old men. Mistrust and caution. It must be so.
