Pass/No Pass Classes A passing grade is considered to be a C or above. These types of courses also do not count towards your GPA because there is no letter grade to assign a numerical value.
C is anywhere between 70% and 79% D - this is still a passing grade, and it's between 59% and 69% F - this is a failing grade.
C+, C, C- indicates satisfactory performance. D+, D, D- indicates less than satisfactory performance. F indicates unsatisfactory performance (no credit: always include last date of attendance).
Tri-C is required to insure that students receive financial aid only for courses that they attend and complete. Students who fail to complete at least one course may be required to repay all or a portion of their federal financial aid funds and may be ineligible to receive future federal financial aid awards.
It depends on how many quality points they earn for each grade. If the D is in a 1-credit-hour course, the student will earn a 3.76 GPA. If the A is in a 1-credit-hour course, they will earn a 3.3 GPA. Same grades, same total number of credit hours, but different weights based on the credit hours of the course.
Is it possible to still pass the class after failing finals or midterms? On average, professors will likely let you pass the class if you failed one final or midterms. Some professors finalize one's grade score by weighing the overall final, midterm, and homework or project-related scores.

A C+ letter grade is equivalent to a 2.3 GPA, or Grade Point Average, on a 4.0 GPA scale, and a percentage grade of 77–79.

A No Pass (NP) grade is awarded for D or F work. A student can elect up to 12 credits taken as Pass/No Pass to fulfill degree requirements at Tri- C. Whereas audited courses do not transfer, Pass/No Pass courses may transfer to another college or university.

Academic Honors: Dean's List. The Dean's List recognizes students whose academic achievements are considered outstanding. The list includes all students who have earned a GPA of 3.50 or greater while completing 12 or more credit hours during the preceding term.
If you receive one C during your high school years, it may ultimately affect your chances of getting into a top school. However, it won't automatically exclude you from one. Instead, it will make earning an acceptance a little harder for you, as you'll have to compensate in other areas.
