On Sunday, the leaders usually tee off around 2:00-3:00 p.m. and the tournament normally finishes between 6:00-7:00 p.m. with the presentation of the green jacket to the winner. Typically Saturday and Sunday rounds are played with two players per group.
Wednesday afternoon is the Par 3 contest, which is played on a separate 9-hole / par-27 course on the northeast corner of Augusta National . Players often have family members or even their children caddy for them during this contest. An interesting piece of trivia is that no player has ever won the Wednesday Par 3 contest and then gone on to win the Masters tournament itself in the same year. In fact, some players even consider it bad luck to win the Par 3 contest. For many years, arguably the three greatest golfers of their generation, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Gary Player would be grouped together to play the Par 3 contest.
Friday is the second tournament round. The first two rounds typically start around 8:00 a.m. and the full field of golfers are playing those days, usually in threesomes. After Friday’s competition, they cut the competition to only the top 50 scores (including ties) and/or any golfer within 10 strokes of the leader.
Rounds three and four on Saturday and Sunday start a little bit later in the morning (usually around 10:00 a.m.) and the players tee off in reverse order of their scores: the golfers furthest behind the leader tee off earlier, and the leaders tee off last.
The practice rounds (including Wednesday’s Par 3 contest) are the only time cameras are permitted on the course, so it’s a good opportunity to take some pictures of the event and see the pros in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Newly-minted world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler proved his quick ascendancy is no fluke with a solid opening round of three-under 69. Perhaps most impressively, Scheffler didn’t make a bogey until the 18th hole.
Augusta National is widely regarded as a course where experienced players have an edge. That’s tough to argue when past champions are populating the leaderboard, and there are several of them lurking after Thursday’s first round.
If it seems like a fresh-from-college stud is winning on the PGA Tour seemingly every week, you’re not imagining things. There’s been a huge influx of young, talented players making their mark on the Tour in recent years, and you’ll find plenty of them near the top of the Masters leaderboard.
Thursday’s morning rain gave way to a beautiful, sunny afternoon, but on Friday, some serious wind may come into play for the later tee times. Friday is expected to be relatively chilly in the morning, with temperatures in the 50s, rising to a peak of 65 degrees in the early afternoon.

He’ll be joined by 2020 Masters runner-up Cameron Smith, who boasts multiple top-5 finishes at Augusta National. 24-year-old Collin Morikawa, who won the 2020 PGA Championship will join Spieth and Smith, forming a strong final group on Thursday.
2020 Masters Champion Dustin Johnson will start his tournament defense at 10:30 on Thursday morning. The 36-year-old gapped the field last November winning by five strokes and already sounds hungry for his second green jacket.
AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The most wonderful time of the golf season is wrapping up Sunday with final-round action at the 2022 Masters concluding, and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is looking to close out the green jacket.
