To qualify for a certificate, a student must: Complete all courses listed for the particular certificate. Achieve at least a “C” grade point average (2.0) in the sequence. Complete, at Lakeland, at least one-half the total number of required hours.
When a student's cumulative (overall) and current (most recent term) grade point averages are 2.0 or better, that student is in good academic standing. If either the cumulative or current G.P.A. falls below 2.0, the student is on academic probation.Jul 12, 2019

Drop/withdraw from classes in your Laker Hub > My IRIS > Registration > Drop Sections. If you drop a class prior to the published refund date, you will not be charged for the course. After the refund date, you can still withdraw from a course until the withdrawal deadline. Tuition and fees apply.
Academic Standing is calculated based on a student's cumulative, or total, GPA. A student is considered to be in Good Academic Standing when they are enrolled in class/es and are not on either academic or disciplinary probation.

Academic Probation Beginning freshmen may be allowed up to three semesters of academic experience before being suspended. Students who are in their third calendar year and later may be given additional semesters of probation rather than suspension if they show a reasonable chance of meeting graduation standards.
The length of academic probation varies from school to school, but is typically just one or two semesters long. Simply put, academic dismissal means being asked to leave the school because of continued poor academic performance.

Class is cancelled by college official. A student drops a class (es) meeting 12 weeks or longer within the first 10 instructional days of the semester. A student drops a class (es) meeting 8-11 weeks within the first five instructional days of the semester/module.
(Refer to Dropping Courses section.) Approved refunds are issued approximately four to six weeks after the start of classes and mailed to your address on file or via direct deposit. After the initial disbursement, the Accounting Office will issue refunds bi-weekly.
District 517 residents age 65 or over who have enrolled in a class for credit will have their tuition costs waived, at the current tuition rate, for each credit hour enrolled through the college; however, senior citizens will be responsible for the payment of applicable fees.

Lake Land College Board Policy 07.28.01 – Academic Integrity Code addresses expectations for students regarding academic integrity and defines procedures the instructor and administration will follow if an instructor believes a student has violated the Code. These procedures are in accordance with Board Policy 07.28.01 Student Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures in order to ensure consistent due process for students.

Board Policy 07.11 explains how personably identifiable information contained in a student’s Education Record is considered confidential and should not be released without the written consent of the student, except as authorized under FERPA and/or its implementing regulations.
Recognizing that it is not uncommon for college students to display some questionable or inappropriate behaviors, “red flags” behaviors are those questionable, suspicious, or inappropriate behaviors that go beyond what seems normal or reasonable for the situation. “Red flag” behaviors may be presented through a student’s appearance, spoken or written words, or specific actions.

The Lakeland University master of arts in counsel ing (MAC) degree courses are tailored to fit the schedules of both working professionals as well as traditional students, so students can complete their degree at a pace that fits their careers and personal schedules.
School Counseling: Professional school counselors are employed in elementary, middle/junior high, and high schools. Through their leadership, school counselors address all students’ academic, career and personal/social development needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. School counselors provide services to students, parents, school staff and the community. Their major functions include providing direct services to students by delivering school counseling core curriculum (classroom sessions), individual student planning, and responsive services. School counselors also provide referrals for additional assistance, consultation, and collaboration working with parents, teacher other educators, and community organizations.
Most students can complete their degree within 3 years. Completing the program depends upon when a student enters the program, which area of emphasis the student decides to pursue and how many courses they are able to take each semester.
Their work can vary depending on the setting in which they work and the population they serve. Community counselors find themselves working with children, adolescents, adults or families many of whom have multiple issues ranging from mental health disorders and addiction to disability and employment needs.
