When a school closure prevents a student from completing his/her driver training, all tuition and fees paid become refundable. The school owner is required to issue full refunds in accordance with Texas Education Code 1001.403. In situations when a school owner fails to issue refunds TDLR will attempt to acquire the students’ records and file a claim against the school’s bond. In most cases only partial refunds can be issued
You will need to notify TDLR using the Change of Address form at least 15 business days before the move and include the required fee and bond. Any school that changes their physical address will need to be inspected and approved by TDLR before beginning classes.

This is the same completion certificate you will take with you to the DMV when you take the written test needed to earn a California learner permit.

If you’re 18-24 years old, you will be required to present your completion certificate, and pass vision and hearing exams before taking your road test. Remember, if you’re a Texas adult 25 or older and have not taken a drivers ed course, you are required to take a written exam as well.
You may also request a permit to practice driving with a person 21 years or older and who have had their license in Texas for at least one year. This can be done prior to completing and the road test. Once you pass your road test, you’ll officially be a licensed Texas driver. Congratulations!
However, if you take an adult drivers ed course, you can bypass the written exam completely when you go to the DPS office – the final exam for your course counts as the DPS written exam.
