Court of Master SommeliersThe Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory Sommelier is the first level and Master Sommelier is the fourth and final level. In between them are Certified Sommelier and Advanced Sommelier. Each level must be completed before moving on to the next.
You must get a minimum score of 60% to pass. It is all theory and no blind tasting or service involved in the exam. Basically, you need to study, study, and study some more before you get to class. The highlights will be hit during class and you will not be taught everything then.Aug 17, 2014
Jokes aside, the WSET Level 3 exam was tough—I literally felt like I paid someone to mentally and emotionally torture me! The exam consists of two parts: Theory and Blind Tasting. The “Normal” Trajectory My reasons for this are varied but the core difference between WSET and CMS is that the WSET has way more class time while the CMS is much more independent study. The online Introductory Sommelier Course features 18 wines presented in guided tastings using the Court of Master Sommeliers Tasting Method. Each wine is matched with a specific lecture topic, allowing students to link the theory of how the wine was made with how it tastes, while they practice describing it.
Students can learn the information as quickly or as slowly as they would like and review sections at their own pace. Students have 180 days from the start date of the program to access course content and take the online exam.
