The following is the procedure for registering for courses: Log into myIIT Select the “Welcome” tab and then click on Registration Dashboard Click on the “Register for Classes” link and select the term from the drop-down menu
In order to register for any course, you will need a unique 6-digit PIN. Only your academic adviser can give you your PIN. If you do not contact your adviser before you arrive at Illinois Tech, you can meet with Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UGAA) during a designated time at SOAR Orientation to register for courses.
Online courses are available to any Illinois Tech student anywhere in the world.
In order for the nine credit hours of registration to be considered full-time, only one course may be audited. International students may only take one online course per term to count towards their full-time enrollment. The maximum study load for regular students is 15 credit hours per semester except by permission of the Office ...
International students are required to remain full-time (i.e. carry nine credit hours of study) and may not change their registration to become part-time except in the semester of graduation. (Students should refer to the note under Minimum Registration Requirements .)
Any graduate student who is using university facilities and/or faculty time must register for a minimum of one credit hour in fall, spring, and summer semesters. A student must be registered:
The term “change of registration” means adding a course (a “course” includes courses, projects or research courses/hours); dropping a course; shifting from one section to another in the same course; or changing the number of credit hours in a variable-credit course (e.g., research hours).
Full-time students are regular, matriculated students that meet any of the following criteria: Register for a minimum of nine credit hours per semester (six credit hours in summer). Hold university-approved fellowships, or teaching or research assistantships, regardless of the number of credits of registration.
A permit refers to an instructor or department electronic permit. E-permits are placed in the system by an instructor or department permit approver—the list of approvers can found on this website—in order to allow for registration into courses with restricted guidelines. A permit will override some registration add errors.
If you are having issues with your myIIT portal account such as a disabled account or password problems, please contact the Office of Technology Services Support Desk at 312.567.3375 or [email protected].
If you are registered for a variable credit-hour course such as an independent study, you can change the number of credit hours for which you are registered via the myIIT portal.
Withdrawal from a Course. Non-attendance or expressing the intent to the instructor of a course does not constitute withdrawal from the course. Withdrawals are performed through the myIIT portal in the same way as adding or dropping a course.
Withdrawals from courses after the published deadline are only permitted in extraordinary circumstances beyond a student's control, such as medical or personal emergencies. Appeals must be submitted after the withdrawal deadline noted in the Academic Calendar and before the final exam for the current term.
Graduate students may repeat up to two distinct courses, with each course being repeated once. Both grades will be recorded and the grade used in the calculation of the grade-point average will be the latest recorded.
Undergraduate students may request to repeat a course for a change of grade during registration. Undergraduate students should refer to the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs's Course Repeat for a Change of Grade page for the course repeat policy and form.
