Depending upon the type of plan you have, you may be responsible for payment of a portion of your registration fees (special fees, student activity fee, technology fee, distance learning fee). No plan covers the full cost of instruction fee assessed for a course taken for the third time at Valencia.
A description of courses offered by Valencia College is located in Courses Offered section via the links on the left (under the Course Descriptions section). Prior to registration each term, you are encouraged to review the descriptions of the courses in which you plan to enroll.
During a first or second attempt in the same course at Valencia, if you withdraw, or are withdrawn by the professor, you will receive a W (Withdrawn). You will not receive credit for the course, and the W will not be calculated in your grade point average; however, the enrollment will count in your total attempts in the specific course.
It is your responsibility to verify the effects of enrollment and/or withdrawal upon your financial assistance (financial aid, scholarships, grants, etc.). According to State Rule 6A-14.0301, you may attempt the same course only three times at Valencia College including the original grade, repeat grades and withdrawals at any point in the term.
After you have gained the skills, you will be required to retake an entry test and score out of the course in which you have been unsuccessful. Permission to register for a fourth or subsequent attempt, based on major extenuating circumstances, may be requested through an academic appeals process.
For financial aid purposes, successful completion of a course means an earned grade of A, B, C, or D; however, a grade of D is “passing below average”. All other grades (F, I, W, WN, WW, WF, WP, and AR) are considered unsuccessful completions and will impact your progress determination.
Students can take coursework and earn grades of S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory). A grade of S+ is equal to a C (2.0) or better. A grade of S- is equated to a D (1.0). A grade of U is equal to an F (0.0).

A letter grade of a D is technically considered passing because it not a failure. A D is any percentage between 60-69%, whereas a failure occurs below 60%. Even though a D is a passing grade, it's barely passing.
While most colleges consider a D a passing grade for pass/fail courses, some require a C. And pass/fail classes may not count toward major or general education requirements.
Grade forgiveness is the process whereby a new grade replaces a former grade when calculating GPA. The first attempt will remain on the transcript, with a footnote indicating the the course has been repeated and the grade discounted (replaced). The first attempt will not be calculated in the GPA or units earned.
College students can retake a class a maximum of 3 times, most of the time. If they want to retake it a fourth time, they have to write a special letter to the school. It might not be worth it to redo a class so many times, as you would graduate late.
SAP: Classes you drop do not count as “attempted” in calculations used to determine eligibility for Federal Student Aid or for graduation eligibility. Federal Student Aid: Your eligibility for FSA funding may be decreased or lost if your course drop changes (reduces) your enrollment status.
In Person. You may request your free transcripts in person. Your first two regular-delivery transcripts are free. The Admissions and Records office is located in Canyons Hall on the Valencia campus and in Quad 1 on the Canyon Country campus.
To request a Valencia official transcript, you must access your Atlas account to complete and submit the Transcript Request Form online. There is a $3 charge for each Valencia transcript requested.

You may have only three attempts at Valencia College per course including the original grade, repeat grades, and withdrawals. Upon the third attempt, you will be charged the full cost of instruction fee; you will receive a grade of A, B, C, D, F or I (Incomplete); and. should you withdraw or be withdrawn, your grade will be changed to an F.

The same course usually means the subject prefix and course number are the same when posted on a Valencia College transcript.
Grade forgiveness means that one grade in a course replaces another grade in that same course. The same course means that the course is either identical in course prefix and course number, or has been determined by Valencia College to have the same course objectives and learning outcomes.
State Rule 6A-14.0301 addresses repeated courses and grade forgiveness and states that you may not repeat a course for credit if you have earned an A, B or C in the course, or if you have had three attempts in the course at Valencia College.* You may appeal to register for a fourth or subsequent attempt through an academic appeals process based on major extenuating circumstances. This appeal must be submitted to Student Services by the Fourth Attempt Deadline established by Valencia College and is listed in the Important Dates and Deadlines document.
If a student withdraws from a class, the student may , upon request and only with the faculty member's permission (which may be withheld at any time in the sole discretion of the faculty member), continue to attend the course. If a student is withdrawn by a faculty member or is administratively withdrawn, the student is not permitted to continue to attend the class.
“Multiple credit courses” may be repeated for credit, but grade forgiveness cannot be applied. You may not repeat a course for grade forgiveness for which you previously have earned a grade of A, B, C, or S+.*.
A professor may withdraw you up to the beginning of the final exam period for violation of the class attendance policy, as published in the faculty member's syllabus, in which case you will receive a grade of “W”. If the professor does not withdraw you, your grade will be what you had earned.
In accordance with Florida Statute 1009.25 (1) (f), a student who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence or whose primary nighttime residence is a public or private shelter designed to provide temporary residence, a public or private transitional living program, or a public or private place not designed for, or ordinarily used as, a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings.
Students who are classified as a Florida resident for tuition purposes age 60 years or older are eligible for Valencia’s tuition waiver up to a maximum of 6 credit hours per term. The waiver includes tuition and standard course fees.
Full-time employees of the executive, legislative or judicial branch of Florida’s government are eligible for a State Employee Waiver as defined in Florida Statute 1009.265 (5). Employees of state universities are not eligible for this benefit. Eligible employees may have tuition and course fees waived for a maximum of 6 credit hours per term.
Full-time classroom teachers, as defined in Florida Statute 1001.02 (2) (a), employed by a school district are eligible for a Classroom Teacher Employee Waiver.
If all or part of your registration fees are being paid by an external agency (your employer, a government agency, etc.), you must present your current form of authorization (letter, voucher, etc.) to a campus Business Office by the Fee Payment Deadline provided in the Academic Calendar in the online official catalog.
If you are a plan participant in good standing, Valencia will automatically credit your account for the maximum amount that can be billed. Your Florida Prepaid credit is limited to the amount of credit hours remaining in your plan, which is reflected on your annual statement.
If you are auditing a course and remain in the course beyond the drop/refund deadline for the term, your final grade will result in an "X".
Prior to registration each term, you are encouraged to review the descriptions of the courses in which you plan to enroll. If you are a degree-seeking student, you should develop an education plan that will reflect course requirements and specify the courses in which to enroll each term.
