At LSU, students have the option to withdraw from or drop a course by certain pre-established deadlines each semester or term. Students can drop courses without a “W” grade being recorded on their record through approximately the 7th class day of a full fall or spring semester and the third day of class of a summer term.
The on-line registration process used at LSU Eunice will allow students to drop all of their courses with the exception of the last course. Students withdrawing from all courses in which they are registered must complete a Resignation Form in the Office of the Registrar.
When a student, having taken a course in the LSU System, is permitted to repeat the course in the LSU System for credit, the latter of the two grades earned shall be the one which determines acceptability of the course for degree credit.
After the last day to add classes and up through the final date to drop or resign, schedule changes will be completed on line using the myLSUE registration system that can be accessed by students over the Internet. The effective date of the schedule change is the date that the change is made by the student or his or her faculty advisor.

“A withdrawal will be on the transcripts but does not affect GPA.” Croskey also noted that there aren't any limits to how many classes one can drop because they don't go on the transcript. Withdrawals though are limited and can look bad if there are too many on a student's transcript.
Students enrolled in the Center for Freshman Year must contact a UCFY academic counselor by email to ucfy@lsu.edu in order to drop a class by the deadline. Students needing to discuss dropping courses in more detail can schedule an advising appointment with a UCFY academic counselor through the Navigate Student app.
Withdrawal allowances cannot be carried forward. Students may drop all courses by withdrawing from the university according to the guidelines in the section of the LSU General Catalog, “Resignation from the University.” A resignation will not count toward the number of drops permitted.
Withdrawal usually means the course remains on the transcript with a “W” as a grade. It does not affect the student's GPA (grade point average). Although students may be reluctant to have a “W” on their transcript, sometimes “W” stands for Wisdom.

Student must make a written request to answers@outreach.lsu.edu to drop a course. Once a written request to drop a course is received, a "W" will be posted to the student's record, if applicable.
You will lose TOPS. You may not sit out a semester while receiving TOPS. If there are documented extenuating circumstances, you should contact LOSFA directly.
Beginning with the 2006-2007 Academic Year, the University implemented a new policy regarding undergraduate students and F grades. The policy states that students who fail a course twice at LSU are not permitted to retake the course unless they have the permission of the dean offering the major.

1, or maybe 2, W's is generally okay, but >5 is a major red flag. This sends the message that when the going gets tough, you cut and run rather than tough it out & do what you need to do to succeed.

The LSU Eunice Committee on Student Conduct is responsible for the administration of discipline which involves a violation of the Code of Student Conduct. Final approval of disciplinary action is vested in the Chancellor.
All full-time students must register for a minimum of 12 semester hours of course work. Students will be permitted to register for not more than three semester hours of work in addition to the number prescribed for the current semester in their curriculum, providing they have maintained an average of B, and have not fallen below a grade of C in any subject during the preceding semester, but in no case will a student be permitted to register for more than 21 semester hours of degree credit during a regular academic semester. Students are not allowed to schedule more than 19 hours without approval of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
At Louisiana State University Eunice, students remain in the freshman classification until they have completed 29 semester hours of work. Students having completed 30-59 semester hours of work are classified as sophomores.
Students who have been dropped for academic performance may not obtain credit toward a degree at LSU Eunice with credits earned at another institution during the period of their ineligibility to register for classes at LSU Eunice. Students who have been dropped may enroll in summer school at LSU Eunice.
However, academic work during the summer term can result in a student being removed from a probation or dropped status. Students who are dropped for the first time for academic performance may not be considered for readmission until they have been out of LSU Eunice for one regular semester.
Students whose names are not on the official roster cannot attend class unless they provide evidence that they have registered for the class.
Earning an “F” in a class may negatively impact TOPS, scholarships, loans, grants, major, minor, overall, and LSU GPAs.
When dropping classes, students should be mindful that they must earn at least 24 Credit Hours within the TOPS Academic Year to retain their TOPS award.

Students who receive federal financial aid and who are not on an academic plan, can retain federal aid if a course is dropped after the last day to add classes.
Withdrawing from a course with a “W” for which a grade exclusion has been implemented will not result in the original grade being excluded. That is the original grade earned (D+ or lower) will still calculate in the student’s GPA.

The advanced-standing program is open to students possessing superior ability and academic preparation. The program permits eligible students to demonstrate academic competence through examinations. Students who earn acceptable scores on these examinations are placed in higher level courses and receive credit in courses by-passed. Credit by examination is limited to 30 semester hours. Credit is awarded only in areas which fall within LSU Eunice’s regular curricular offerings and which are appropriately related to the student’s educational goals. A school official has legitimate educational interest if the official needs to review an education record in order to fulfill his or her professional responsibility. Upon request, the University discloses education records without consent to officials of another school in which a student seeks or intends to enroll.
Final examinations are required and are given at the end of each semester or summer term in accordance with the schedule issued by the Office of the Registrar. All exceptions to this policy must be approved by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
