how to view all course grades on canvas

by Ms. Juanita Purdy MD 3 min read

How do you see all grades in canvas classes?

When students click "View Grades" from the bottom left corner of the Dashboard, they see a list of the courses they are taking, with a place for the total grade for each assignment group. Any course grades are visible here even if the left navigation link to Grades in a particular course is hidden.

How do I get canvas grades to show on my dashboard?

1. Tap the Menu icon. 2. To view the course grade in the Dashboard Courses tab, tap the Show Grades button.

Why can't my students see their grades in canvas?

Instructors can see if this is an issue in their courses by checking the top of each column in their grade books for the orange eye icon with a line through it. If that icon is present, students can't see that column of grades until the instructor releases them.Jul 16, 2019

View Courses

The Courses I'm Taking heading displays the name of each course and a current overall grade, if available [1]. If no grades have been assigned, the grade appears as no grade [2].

View Grading Periods

If your course is using multiple grading periods, the course displays the name and grade of the current grading period [1]. To view grades for another grading period, click the grading period drop-down menu [2].

Important

Please note some instructors may not post all assignments in Canvas so your grade in Canvas may not be based on all assignments in the course. Contact your instructor if you have a question about your grade in the course.

Grades Tip

You can check the box next to Calculate based only on graded assignments. When this is checked your total score will be based only on graded assignments in the course. When you uncheck this box you will see your total score based on all assignments in the course .

What happened to my old Canvas courses?

Canvas Support has removed Canvas courses of past semesters from users' Courses menu and enabled date restrictions on past courses in Canvas to make them read-only. This prevents both students and instructors from making any additional changes to the site.

Why can't I access certain content in my old courses?

The read-only status affects your access to certain content in your old Canvas courses.

Why can't I enroll people in my old Canvas courses?

As with content access, the read-only status prevents you from editing your old Canvas courses, including any attempts at enrolling new people. If you want someone to have access to your old Canvas course, please contact Canvas Support.

Is there anything else I should know?

Yes! Please note that the read-only status for past courses does not affect the ability for instructors to copy old course content into new Canvas courses. Copying content from an old course into a new course occurs during the course-site creation process.

What should I do if I need help?

Please contact Canvas Support at athelp @humboldt.edu if you need assistance.
