The course menu is the panel on the left side of the interface that contains links to all top-level course areas. Instructors can also provide links to the tools page, individual tools, websites, course items, and module pages. Instructors control the content and tools available on the course menu.
Course Menu Overview: The course menu is located on the upper left menu bar on the Course Home Page. The course menu allows navigation through the course by clicking on “Home Page,” “Information,” “Content,” “Discussions,” “Tools,” or “Help.”
They can be found by clicking the up and down arrow icon above the Course Menu. From the panel that pops up, select the item you wish to move, then click on the small up or down arrow buttons to move the item to the desired place in the list. When done, click the Submit Button.

The Control Panel can be found below the Course Menu when you are in a Blackboard course. Here, you can change settings for the course, adjust the look and feel of the course, access the Grade Center, and communicate with students. Students do not see the Control Panel.

In the top right corner of your course you can click the Edit Mode button to turn the Edit Mode on and off. If your Blackboard course does not have a Home Page, or if you deleted it and would like to restore it, you can add a Home Page by clicking the + sign in the upper left corner of the Course Menu and selecting Module Page. The course menu is not available in Ultra Course View. Instead, all content, assessment, and tools are organized in a single list view. We recommend creating Folders or Learning Modules for each week or topic in your course to organize your materials. You can include both content and assessments together in the folder or module, to make it easy for students to find what they need. Course Structure: Course structures contain predefined course materials such as menu links, instructions, and content examples that can jump-start your course organization. The selected course structure’s content is added to your existing course and does not replace existing menu items and content. You can delete unnecessary items.
Applying a structure to a course will fundamentally change the design of the course by creating new tool and content area links in the Navigation Menu based on the particular Structure that was selected. Any pre-existing Navigation Menu links will not be altered and will remain unchanged, so anything that you have already done in the course will still remain intact after the Structure is applied. Materials can be moved into the new areas created by the Structure as needed.
Themes and Structures can be used to make changes to the formatting of a course. Themes are purely a cosmetic change, while Structures fundamentally change the design of a course.
Child courses have limited options in the menu and need to be managed from their associated master courses.
Instructors who teach multiple sections of the same course may prefer to manage those sections through a single master course with associated child courses. Active courses—courses with student submissions—should never be made into a child course of a merge course relationship.

The Quick Setup Guide helps instructors choose elements for their courses such as a course structure and a theme. They can also edit the course name and description, and access topics and video tutorials to help them learn more about building their courses.
In the course search results, Blackboard Learn indicates unavailable courses with a red X. To make the course available, open the course's menu and select Make Available.
To appear in the course catalog, courses must be assigned to at least one category. After a course has a category, Blackboard Learn automatically adds the course to the course catalog.
