Blackboard Learn includes the batch_ImportExport tool for handling the import/export and archive/restore of a number of courses at once as well as the import/restore of files that exceed the default maximum upload limit.
To include Content Collection files in the restore, select Select Folder. Select Browse to navigate to the folder. Blackboard Learn creates a sub-folder and copies the Content Collection files into it.
Archive packages include course content, user data, and user interactions. Archive packages are designed to provide a permanent record of a course. To save course materials to teach another set of students at a later time, export the course instead of archiving it.
The default size limit for content uploaded though the user interface is 2.5 GB. When attempting to upload files larger than 2.5 GB using the interface, users will receive an error. This limit does not apply to web folder or shared location (WebDAV) uploads.
SafeAssign assignments aren't included in the archive and can't be restored. To learn more, see SafeAssign. The method for archiving cross-listed courses is to archive the parent course. Only parent courses have content, and archiving the parent course includes the child courses.
Store archive packages in a secure location. Do not unzip or extract a course or archive package. Do not remove files from the package or try to import a file contained with the package. You can only import or restore the course if the package is intact.
The copied content is added to the end of the content list. When you copy an entire course's content, the visibility settings are preserved when the content is added to the new course. For example, hidden content in the copied course is hidden in the course you copied it to.
You can copy all the content or select individual items from the other Ultra courses you teach. On the Course Content page, select the plus sign to open the menu. Select Copy Content. Or, open the menu on the right side above the content list. Select Copy Content.
Attendance data isn't included when you copy a course into a new or existing course. The attendance option is removed from the copy options. Attendance data is included in an exact course copy. More on attendance and course copying. Review all copied items to be sure you're showing the content you want to show.
From your course list, select the course you wish to copy FROM (the source course).
Mason generally recommends the default Copy links and copies of the content option. However, if you have content stored, but not available to students, in your course or you have video package files (e.g., Camtasia) choose the third Copy links and copies of the content (include entire course home folder) option. Click Submit when you are done.
Select Submit to view search results. Locate the course or courses you want to delete. To delete an individual course, open the course's menu and select Delete. To delete multiple courses, select the check box next to the course folder and select Delete at the top of the results list.
It is important to clean up the Content Collection on a regular basis, such as at the end of each semester. As courses, organizations, and users are deleted from Blackboard Learn, administrators also need to remove them from the Content Collection.
The user's folder will no longer appear, but it can be searched and located. If the user is not removed from the Content Collection and a user with the same username is added to the Blackboard Learn, as expected, a folder with this username appears in the Content Collection.
Copying course materials into an existing course only adds content, it doesn’t remove existing content.
