How to Transfer Courses at the End of Summer Session UIUC/UIS students must request a UIC transcript at the end of the summer in order for their grades to be transferred back to their home campus. Grades do not transfer automatically.
Students interested in taking undergraduate-level courses at UIC for the summer only apply as Summer Session Only students. If you are currently attending another college or university, you must be in good standing at that institution.
UIC maintains special transfer programs with participating colleges and universities. See if your school participates. As a participant in the Illinois Articulation Initiative, UIC allows transfer of completed IAI General Education Core Curriculum (GECC) between participating Illinois institutions.
Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) test scores are encouraged, particularly if they may count towards credit that satisfies your program's prerequisites. UIC maintains special transfer programs with participating colleges and universities.
Use the UIC web application. Printed applications will not be accepted. The $60 nonrefundable application fee or fee waiver. Official college/university transcripts, submitted electronically or via mail, from every college/university you’ve attended. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.
Using Transferology® Sign in. Enter the school name of the transfer institution for where you wish to take or have already taken a course. Choose the term you wish to take or have already taken the course (e.g. Summer 2018). Enter the department of the course (e.g. English, History, etc.).
UIC accepts 55.84% transfer applicants, which is competitive. To have a shot at transferring into UIC, you should have a current GPA of at least 3.35 - ideally you're GPA will be around 3.48. In addition, you will need to submit standardized test scores.
UIC accepts all transferable credit and there is not a limit in the amount of hours that are accepted, however, it's important to keep in mind that you must complete a minimum number of hours from UIC to earn a UIC degree, which varies depending on what type of school you are transferring from.
Maximum Credit Hours Undergraduate students can register for up to 12 total credit hours–either as a combination of courses taken in the 4-week and 8-week sessions, or just courses taken in the 8-week session. Graduate students can take up to 20 credit hours over the summer.
There is no GPA requirement for UChicago's admission process, but students will need to prove their academic record through submitting a high school transcript, all college transcripts, and two teacher evaluations.
A minimum 2.50 GPA based on all attempted college coursework is recommended for transfer applicants. Please note, it is not a guarantee for admission, but we suggest it as a minimum when considering applying to UIC.

Of those 120 credits, a maximum of 60 credits can transfer and a minimum of 60 credits must be taken at UIC. The degree program requires that a student must earn a minimum of 40 semester hours in advanced-level courses (those numbered 200 and above at UIC) at any accredited four-year college or university.

The Summer Session Only application is intended for students who want to enroll in undergraduate-level courses for credit during the summer but do not intend to continue their undergraduate studies at UIC in the fall. All visiting students must apply and be admitted nondegree for the summer term only before they can register for courses.
When you apply as a Summer Session Only student, your admission is valid only for the summer for which you applied. Even if you previously applied to UIC, you will need to complete a new Summer Session Only application by the application deadline.
The Summer Session Only application is only valid for enrollment in Summer Session 2021. If you wish to continue your enrollment beyond summer, check the Office of Admissions instructions on how to apply as a degree-seeking student.
UIC offers a holistic review process that considers grade trends, and the content of your courses. You can share additional information about yourself during the essay portion of the application, or via letters of recommendation. The application itself is the place to make your case for admission.
Transfer admission is competitive and there are limited seats available each semester. Your application is reviewed based on the criteria included, and against other applicants in that given application cycle. The most competitive applications will be selected for admission.
If you’re a currently enrolled student in good standing at UIC and will not be graduating before the summer, you are eligible to attend Summer Session. You do not have to apply to take summer courses; you register for summer courses at the same time as when you register for fall courses. Registration for 2021 summer courses begins March 29.
If you are graduating prior to Summer Session and want to take undergraduate courses during the summer, you will need to apply as a Summer Session Only student. As a Summer Session Only student, you would be admitted to UIC as a nondegree undergraduate for the summer term only.

All UIC degree programs require a foundation in General Education. The UIC requirement for General Education courses is 24 credit hours across six thematic categories.
Current University of Illinois undergraduate students should contact their college office for information on transfer credit restrictions prior to enrolling in courses at other institutions.
The university participates with the following Illinois community colleges to reverse transfer Illinois credit to a community college for potential awarding of an associate degree. Annually in February, the university will notify currently enrolled students who meet reverse transfer credit eligibility requirements.
