Course numbers are classified as: Course Number. Classification. 1-99. Lower division. Requires successful completion of one year of college, or consent of instructor. 100-199. Upper division. Requires successful completion of two years of college, or consent of instructor.

You must have credit for a minimum of 180 quarter units. GPA requirements: You must have a 2.0 GPA overall, a 2.0 GPA in your major, and 2.0 GPA in the upper-division courses in your major.
Any undergraduate student is eligible for the dean's honor list if they are enrolled in at least 12 units for grades and that quarter's grade point average is 3.5 or higher.

Course Listings However, junior and senior students may take lower-division courses, and freshmen and sophomores may normally take upper-division courses when upper- division standing is not a prerequisite and when any other prerequisites have been met. A course has no prerequisites unless indicated.
Time to Degree Policy A maximum of 216 units is permitted after their 12th quarter of study at UCI. Students who enter UCI as junior transfers from other institutions are expected to complete all degree requirements within 3 years (9 quarters, not including summers).
The use of Pass/Not Pass is governed by all of the following provisions: A student in good standing may take up to an average of four units per quarter on a Pass/Not Pass basis. In addition, students may count a total of 12 units of courses designated Pass/Not Pass Only toward their graduation requirements.
The Dean's Honors list recognizes high scholastic achievement in any one term. The following criteria are used to note Dean's Honors on student records: a 3.75 grade-point average (GPA) in any one term, with at least 12 graded units.
Students who in any quarter complete a minimum of 12 units for letter grades, with no grade below a "B" and no grade of "W", "NC" or "I," and who average 3.5 GPA or better for that quarter, will be placed on the Dean's Honor List. This will be noted on your official UCR transcript.
The Dean's List is compiled in recognition of scholastic honors to degree-seeking undergraduate students who earn a minimum 3.4 GPA, complete a minimum of 12 credit hours, earn no grade less than “C” (2.0) and no “I,” “U,” “N,” “NC,” or “WF” grades during a term.
