An Appraiser Trainee is a person who is authorized (approved, but not licensed) by TALCB to gain legal real estate appraisal experience under the supervision of a Certified General or Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser.
Experience Requirements: Provide 1,500 hours of acceptable and verifiable appraisal experience acquired over a minimum of 12 months (1 year). Experience may be acquired anytime during the appraiser's career when that person had legal authority to perform real estate appraisals. Appraisals must comply with USPAP.

You may apply after you have completed 75 hours of qualifying education (QE). Your QE hours must be from the Appraisal Qualifications Board’s (AQB) core curriculum and earned within past five years. There is no experience or exam requirement; however, you must take an AQB-approved Supervisory Appraiser/Trainee Appraiser course before your Trainee Appraiser license will be issued.

DELPROS allows you to save your incomplete application and return to it later to finish the process. You only have six (6) months to submit your application once you begin. If you do not submit your application within six months of starting it, you will be required to restart the entire online application again.
Examples of “third-party forms” are transcripts from schools, employment verifications from a supervisor, and license verifications from another state. Forms requiring a supervisor signature, seal, or notary may have to be MAILED to the Board office directly UNLESS the document specifically indicates to UPLOAD the document.
Do not send these forms to the Council office. Allow at least four weeks for the SBI to send criminal history records to the Council office.
