The Q course medical training includes a stint at a civilian hospital trauma unit and is arguably the most arduous among the four military occupational specialties that make up the SF ranks. "It lets you know there will be a high degree of specialty placed on you," he said, "and rank comes with that.
There are several times where you will not be able to see him during the Q-course (the field phases), but there are lots of times he will be available to be "home" during training (language, some parts of MOS).

Both schools are physically and mentally challenging, but in different ways. I generally say that Ranger school sucks more but the Q course is harder.
It can be done, but don't sugar coat it, it's gonna be tough on the family. The current SFQC layout has family time available during Phase III and Language School. You willl not see your family (or your house) much, if any, during Phase IA, I, II, PLDC, BNCOC, SERE, or Robin Sage.
Assuming you are reasonably intelligent, and in good physical shape, you have a 31% chance of successfully passing the US Army Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course (SFAS).
Joining the Special Forces after 30 is possible, provided your physical abilities are adequate. Green Beret training is intense, so you will need to be capable of all that is asked of you in order to join. After the age of 36, you will no longer be considered for acceptance in the Special Forces.
RASP 1 has a 53% attrition rate. RASP 2 has a 74% attrition rate. SFAS has 64% and 51% attrition rates for enlisted soldiers and officers respectively, whereas SFQC has 35% and 27% attrition rates for the same categories. CCT selection has a 50% attrition rate with a further 27% rate for the Qualification Course.

"Sapper school was very demanding. It's a much shorter course than Ranger School but it's very intense. It's very taxing knowledge-wise," she said. "There's a lot of tests and everything's point based, so you don't know a lot of the time what you're getting graded on."
While the Green Berets have what many would call a harder selection, there's no denying that the Army Rangers selection is no cake-walk either. In fact, many Army Rangers are plucked from the unit to serve in the Green Berets themselves.
Army Rangers are trained slightly at a lower specification than the Green Berets, who are trained more vigorously. The motto of army rangers is different to that of the Green Berets. There are fewer Army Rangers in the country than the Green Berets.
