If you fail, you can take the test 2 more times within the same year. If you pass, you can move on to the driving test. In order to take your drivers test, you'll need to provide a vehicle for the test, along with its proof of liability insurance and valid registration.

When you finish the program, the Texas Department of Public Safety will email you a certificate of completion. Print the certificate and provide it to the driver license office before you take your driving skills exam. The certificate will expire 90 days after you complete the course.

No night-time driving is allowed, you should not be on the road between midnight and 5 a.m. (exceptions can be made if you are driving to school or employment related activity and for medical emergencies). The provisional drivers license must be held for at least 6 months before these restrictions can be lifted.

You will probably take the permit test at the DMV. A small number of states let you take the test at other locations; check with your state to find out where. In a few states like Florida, can also take the test online. However, most states still require you to take the test in person.
