Talk to your school AP coordinator about paying exam fees

You can’t pay for your exam on this website. Your AP coordinator will collect any fees that you owe.

Review your registration details

Once you have selected to register, the date and time of your exam will appear in your course card in My AP. You can review the exam schedule and talk with your AP coordinator if you have any questions about the start time for the exam you’re scheduled to take.

Get your join code (s)

Your AP teacher will give you a join code so you can join their class section online. You’ll receive a unique code for each AP class you’re taking and will need to enter each separately.

Sign in to My AP

Use your College Board username and password to sign in to My AP. This is the same login you use to access your AP scores, PSAT/NMSQT scores, or register for the SAT—or that you used to access My AP last year. If you’ve never had a College Board account, you can create one via the Sign Up link.

Check the course information

Make sure the information that comes up is for the course you are taking. If it is, click Yes.

Fill out registration information

If this is your first time joining a class, you’ll need to provide some additional information. You only have to do this once.

How Can I Take the AP Courses That Interest Me?

The vast majority of students who take an AP do so through the school where they're currently enrolled, so when you're choosing an AP, it's a good idea to first start with that list, as it's the most accessible.

Which Prerequisites Are Required?

Some schools require you to complete certain prerequisites in order to enroll in an AP class. For example, you need to take Chemistry I before you take AP Chemistry, or algebra, geometry and pre-calc before AP Calculus. These requirements are not set in place by the College Board but are implemented by schools to help set you up for success.

Are There Important Registration Deadlines I Must Know?

Consult with your guidance counselor about AP course registration timelines at your school. If an AP class you're interested in is particularly popular and fills up quickly, you'll want to make sure you're prepared to finalize your schedule in a timely fashion.
