I am new in moodle. How to set a course between starting date and end date. In course property only course start date is available.I am using topics format. The enrollment start/end dates don't serve our purpose as we don't want them to be unenrolled from the course, but rather have the course 'closed' 4 weeks later.

Activity completion expected due date is for the teacher only and that date does not show to the students according to the info icon next to it on the set up page.

Due Dates are when assignments are due. Submission of assignments will still be allowed after this date but these assignments will be indicated as late. Cut-off Dates prevent students from submitting after the specified date.

I have a course with one section of students that meets on Tuesday and a different group of students that meets on Thursday. The curriculum for the two groups is identical.
I know this thread is a few years old, however I am just starting up with moodle and am in the same situation described above. Is it still impossible to set hard deadline dates for the same activity for different groups?
Need the same functionality, where different groups are doing exatly the same course over slightly different dates. It is important they be able to access the same course forum etc. but have different deadlines for their assignments.
Has anyone found a solution to this? I am in the same situation, with several groups starting at different stages but all taking one specific assignment at some point.
But the groups/grouping allows you to hide an assignment from not group members and so if you create a designated assignment for each group you can use the groups/grouping for showing each group only the group's designated assignment.
Thanks Itamar- the additional problem with this approach is that we have several cohorts on the same course being just 1 month or so apart from each other, and creating designated assignments (total of 15 per course) for each cohort (e.g. Cohort 1 assignment number 4) tends to confuse tutors and then they mark different work.

This stops students from submitting before the shown date but it doesn't hide the assignment and any included instructions or materials.
Here you can decide how you wish students to submit their work to you.
The Atto editor now allows for recording audio and video when grading, along with the option to upload supporting files such as images.
If this is set to 'No' students can make changes to their submission at any time. (If you want to stop them changing work once you are ready to grade, click 'View/Grade all submissions'; locate the student and From the Edit column, click the action icon and select 'Prevent submission changes'.)
These settings allow students to collaborate on a single assignment, eg. working in the same online area or uploading, editing and reuploading an MS Powerpoint in the common assignment area.
Please note that if you are using group mode then course teachers need to be members of the group in order to receive submission and late submission notifications.
