Click the Edit button in the upper right corner. On the discussion item's edit page, scroll down to the "Assign" area. In the "Assign" box, adjust the due date and/or available from and until dates as needed by clicking on the calendar icon next to these boxes.
From the navigation bar on the left side of your Canvas course, click Settings > Course Details. Make sure under the Participation section, Course is selected. Then enter a new closing date. You can also give students early access to the course by entering an earlier start date than the term start.
Term dates, course dates, and section dates are very symbiotic. All of them flow together in all aspects of Canvas. Various dates allow different users to participate in the course.

Your course will be "concluded" 2-3 weeks after the end of finals period. This means the content will be in an archival state. You will maintain full read/edit access to the site and students will also have access to your course content for up to 5 years.
Course Start Date means the first day of the Course as described in the Confirmation.

A course site isn't visible to students until the instructor manually publishes the Canvas site. If the semester/term has already started and you are definitely registered for the course, contact your instructor and ask them to publish the course. Why is there a lock on my canvas page? By using the "Lock Until" setting, instructors can set a date by which a module will be able to be unlocked. Modules that are published but set with an unlock date are visible in the module list, but students cannot access their contents until they are unlocked.
Click the Courses tab on the garnet global navigation menu on the left of the screen. Click the All Courses link from the menu that appears. On the All Courses page, scroll down to Past Enrollments. From here, you can access a previous course by clicking on its hyper-linked course name.
