In the final analysis, the major keys for having a good class are the attitudes of the professors and the students. We need to have the desire to be engaged, be challenged, and work together to make the whole experience better. Having good students and good professors without a good synergy is not as effective, either.

In the United States, “That sounds good, thank you!” would be acceptable in an email to practically anybody. I don’t think there’s any need to be formal. You’re communicating agreement, you’re communicating thanks, it’s the thought that counts.

Be respectful yes, and use ‘yes, sir/maam’ but only very conciously and sparingly. Dont get into the habit of submitting authority.
In the American military, you would never address a female officer as “Sir.” In the United States, you would address the officer as “Ma’am” and not “Sir”. It’s considered disrespectful to use the term “Sir” for a female in both the army/navy and outside.
2 Answers. As Lambie said, you can address them without any title, and it will not seem rude or out of place. If you believe you’re younger than them and wish to call them “sir” or “ma’am” out of respect for their age, that’s also perfectly fine and polite. If you choose not to do so, that’s also just as fine.
