Reset a Course
Restoring a course uploads the archive package into Blackboard Learn in the same state that it was in at the time it was archived. Archive packages include course content, user data, and user interactions. Archive packages are designed to provide a permanent record of a course.
If you make no other choices, Blackboard Learn uses default values for any settings that you don't define. You can change the default course settings at any time. These changes apply to new courses created after the change.
If you added the course to the Dashboard, it will still appear in the Dashboard after a reset. Note: Course content cannot be reset in Blueprint Courses. In Course Navigation, click the Settings link. In the sidebar, click the Reset Course Content link. Click the Reset Course Content button.
Blackboard Learn indicates disabled courses with a circle with an X through it. To appear in the course catalog, courses must be assigned to at least one category. After a course has a category, Blackboard Learn automatically adds the course to the course catalog.

The Blackboard Learn packaging format follows the IMS Content Packaging Specification, with extensions to support content types that are specific to Blackboard Learn.
If a user importing or restoring a course does not have manage permission, some of the package contents might not upload successfully.
If a username exists with a different email address than the one included in the archive package, Blackboard Learn creates a new user account. The new account has the same username with a sequence number appended.
To include Content Collection files in the restore, select Select Folder. Select Browse to navigate to the folder. Blackboard Learn creates a sub-folder and copies the Content Collection files into it.
Exporting a course creates a ZIP file of the course content called a course package. You can import course packages back into Blackboard Learn to create a new course with the same content. Exporting a course includes only the course content. The export does not include any user interactions such as blog posts or grades.
The following table identifies the supported paths for importing or restoring a course that was exported or archived from older learning management systems. Certified paths are fully tested and supported by Blackboard. Compatible paths are not fully tested but should function correctly based on past performance.

Child courses have limited options in the menu and need to be managed from their associated master courses. On the Administrator Panel in the Courses section, select Courses. Search for a course. On the Courses page, open the menu and select Edit.
Remove Master Enrollments removes any enrollments that were added to the master course when the child course was originally merged with it. Choose this option if you don't want users enrolled in this course to remain enrolled in the master course. For example, choose this option if the course you want separated was accidentally merged into the set.
Instead, it becomes a distinct course. The course no longer is associated with the merged set, and it contains no material from its former master course. The separated course retains both its content and enrollments from the moment it was separated out.
You can create a new course in Blackboard Learn by defining just the course ID and the course name. However, courses have several other settings that control guest access, enrollment options, menu names, button styles, and other components. When you create a new course, Blackboard Learn uses default values for any settings that you do not define.
The default course menu defines the course areas to include in a new course by default.
You can set three default images to appear in standard locations in courses. Images are not required for courses to display properly. If you do not set default images and no images are included when a course is created, the course ignores the images areas and displays only the course areas.

Your institution has the control to set the default selection for the linking to course files. This setting only affects the course copy, export, and archive pages for institutions that have access to content management. Although a third option exists, only copy has the three options while export and archive have two. If you select either the second or third choice for the default, the second choice for export and archive is selected by default. To view examples of these selections listed, see Exporting, Archiving, and Restoring Courses and Copying Courses.

Do this if you want to give your student an additional attempt but don't want to delete the record of their first attempt.
Do this if you want to delete the student's previous submission. This will allow them to re-submit the assignment but will not keep a record of the original submission.
