After a Canvas course's term has ended, the course becomes read-only for enrolled students. Unlock a course. To unlock a Canvas course after the term has ended: Navigate to the course you want to unlock, and from the course navigation menu, select . In the sidebar of the "Settings" screen, click : After the page automatically refreshes, your course will be unlocked, and the course end date will be set to one month from the current date.
If your Canvas admin has enabled self enrollment for your institution, you can enable self enrollment in your course. Self-enrollment allows a student to sign up for a course using a secret URL or code. Self-enrollment can be enabled for a course whether or not the course is publicly visible.

You can unconclude a concluded course. For example, if an instructor has the appropriate permissions to conclude a course before the end of the term, Canvas sets an immediate end date for the course and puts the course in an archived state for both students and instructors.

To put it simply, the “lock” icon means that Canvas won't give you the option to calculate your overall grade. If you'd like to do so, you'll need to use sources like Roger Hub to calculate grades, or you can do it manually but the former is more convenient to use.
Click the Designs, Images, or Videos tab, depending on what you want to recover or permanently delete. Hover your cursor over the design or file you want to recover or permanently delete. Click on ••• that appears on the design or file thumbnail. To recover, click Restore.
When you reset course content, you reset all content in the course including: Course ID—external URLs will no longer direct back to the course unless they are manually changed. Course details and enrollments will remain intact within your course.
If you have permission as an instructor , you can reset course content with your course settings in Canvas. However, resetting course content permanently removes all content and it cannot be recovered.
Reminder : Newly added users must accept the course invitation before the course is re-locked. Your course will automatically re-lock ONE WEEK from the date that you unlock it. You can just leave the course alone and it will re-lock in one week. If all users have accepted the invitation to your past course, you can manually re-lock the course.
After they have accepted the invite, you can re-lock your course. Note : If you re-lock the course before they accept the invitation, they will not have access to your course because their enrollment is not complete. They must accept the invitation before you re-lock.
