The following instructions are for renaming a course in Canvas:
If so, now you can create a nickname for each of your courses so that you can more easily and conveniently find the course you want to see in Canvas. First, go to Dashboard in the left navigation. If you currently have your Dashboard set to display in list view, switch to icon view by toggling the switch to the left.
Go to Dashboard in the left navigation. Then click on the settings icon for the course. Clear the nickname text field and the original course name will show up. Then click Apply.
You can change the name of a section by editing your course Settings in Canvas. Note: Sections may be added by your institution's student information system (SIS). If a section in your course includes an SIS ID, you may not have permission to change the section name.

Pick a course to create a nickname for, and then click on the settings icon for that course. Next, enter the nickname in the text field and choose a color for the course card. Click Apply. This will save your change.
