Undergraduate students who are juniors or seniors may enroll in graduate courses for credit toward their undergraduate degrees if they meet all prerequisites as determined by the graduate director and they receive permission from the instructor of the course and from the student's undergraduate academic advisor.

They indicate that last year they placed 14,783 students on their waitlist, 6000 accepted a spot on the waitlist, and the University admitted 415 of them. However, Northeastern refuses to answer this question on the Common Data Set leaving students to wonder what their chances are this year.

Northeastern has high academic standards, and schoolwork cannot just be blown off. Someone who is planning to get in and out of school and dive into professional or graduate studies should not go here, because it is a 5 year school.

The five-year program will remain an option, though Aoun predicts that within three years, the majority at Northeastern will finish in four. Currently, 17 percent graduate in four years, but they typically leave with little or no co-op experience. The change will “move fast, very fast,'' Aoun said.
A candidate for the master's degree must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate-level coursework and such other study as may be required by the department in which the student is registered.
The Northeastern Boston Valedictorian Scholarship Senior class valedictorians are eligible for the scholarship, with preference given to students from the designated 35 traditional district and exam Boston Public High Schools.
