An “Engine Malfunction Service Now” warning message may be displayed on the dash. The power loss problem is due to a software glitch in the Focus’ powertrain control module. Corrective action: Ford dealers will update the PCM software with a new program that eliminates the problem.
As stated above, checking the oil level in your Focus is definitely the place to start diagnosing low oil pressure. If the oil level is really low, you’ll need to fill it up until it’s back to the full mark. This may solve the problem. Keep in mind that if the oil has leaked out once, it will leak out again.

Worn Seals or Gaskets: The exhaust system has quite a few seals and gaskets and if they are failing it can cause the engine to run louder, and sputter at times. Over time, gaskets and seals will wear down and eventually have to be replaced.
The Focus ST makes around 250 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque in its stock configuration. With a larger turbo and some bolt-on performance items, 360 whp can be reached easily, but as you push the limits upgraded internals are needed.
The most common reasons a Ford Focus has rough idle are a vacuum leak, an issue with the spark plugs, or a problem with the ignition coil.
Any unusual shaking or vibrating forces coming from the engine is cause for concern. It could be something as simple as old spark plugs producing an uneven power delivery, it could be something serious like worn or broken engine mounts, or it could be even more serious in the case of internal engine damage.
The most common reasons a Ford Focus has a rattling noise are the ball joints, struts or strut mount, or a problem with the sway bar links.

Ford Focus Low Oil Pressure: Diagnosis and Causes. One of the most serious issues that can happen to your Ford Focus ‘s engine is if it ends up with low oil pressure. Low oil pressure will cause the engine to seize up. When the oil pressure light on, it should be assumed that the engine locking up is imminent.
Pickup Tube. There is a tube in your Focus that takes the oil from the pan to the oil pump. This is called the pickup tube. This tube can fall out, which will cause no oil to get to the oil pump.
Air in Oil. If the oil level is significantly lower in the pan than it should be, air can get into the oil pump and aerate the oil. Think about it like the foam on a cappuccino or beer. It’s the same liquid, but has totally different characteristics when foamy.
Always treat low oil pressure in your Focus seriously. If there is no oil pressure the engine will lock up and fail very fast. We recommend having a mechanic take a look at it. Good luck!
If the oil level is really low, you’ll need to fill it up until it’s back to the full mark. This may solve the problem. Keep in mind that if the oil has leaked out once, it will leak out again. You’ll need to start checking it much more often.
The number one reason that your Focus would have low oil pressure would be a lack of oil. The first thing you should do, is check your engine oil level.
Modern vehicles use an electric oil pressure sending unit. If your Focus’s sensor has gone bad, it’ll shoot a false low pressure reading to the ECM. One of the first things that people do when they have the low oil pressure light is to change out this sensor to see if that rectifies the problem.
Tbh I have read this and no clue how to test it but thought I would reply and not be rude. Is it dying whilst just sitting?
Yeh the wire scotchlocked is so the Drl will dim to 50% when the headlights activate. I had to do that when using a drl auto control module that connects to the battery and you also have the option for indicator options like the audi light drl.
Thanks but the DRL problem is separate and for the moment not a concern - the dimming circuit has a duff diode in it or the MOSFET has burned and stuck etc etc. A fairly inexpensive replacement module will fix that when the weather warms up!
I would say closed but unlocked as u don't want the interior lights on. Here is more information/steps to help out
Hmm. After 40mins, draw read between 0.00 and 0.01 on 10amp setting so I guess that means there is no drain after all...
10A means the highest reading will be 10A, a value of 1 on this setting will be 1A your 0.01 is 10mA
Our 2011 Focus has shown similar issues with the battery draining and needing a jump start.
