General Rules for Course Equivalencies. Equivalent courses at different institutions are identified by the same prefixes and same last three digits of the course number and are guaranteed to be transferable between participating institutions that offer the course, with a few exceptions, as listed below in Exceptions to the General Rule for Equivalency.
USF's Grade Forgiveness policy permits Undergraduate and Non-Degree students only to repeat a course and have the repeated grade and hours earned computed in his/her GPA in place of the original grade and hours earned, providing the repeat grade is “D-” or higher (exception - see Honors at Graduation).
Log into your MyUSF account using your NetID and password. Click the OASIS tab under My Resources. Once you've clicked the Student tab, you should see a link for Registration. Within the Registration Tab, click Schedule Planner and use the portal to register for classes.
To drop classes, login to OASIS and click on the Registration Menu, then select Registration/Add/Drop Classes. Next, click the Action pull-down menu next to the five digit course reference number of the one you wish to drop, select drop, and then click Submit.
Auditing Privileges and Fees Audit status must be obtained only during the first five days of the term by filing an Audit Form and a date-stamped permit from the college/department on the campus where the course is being offered, with the Registrar's Office. IN-STATE fees are assessed for all audit courses.
This semester, USF has discontinued the Schedule Planner. In its place, please use the Student Schedule Search and the accompanying resources developed by the Office of The Registrar to plan your coursework.
Online Programs These programs are degree completion programs, which means upper division courses can be completed online. Some programs include required internships, practica or clinical experiences that are not completed online.
Students with 59 or fewer credit hours may withdrawal from 3 courses; and students with 60 or more credit ours are allotted two course withdrawals.
You can take classes at any USF campus. You may want to consider searching all campuses to see if your course is available elsewhere, especially if you are interested in taking the course online.
Courses are offered on week nights and the field seminars may be offered on Saturdays. If you have decided to withdraw from USF before completing your program, you will need to submit the Withdraw form to the Registrar. You can find the Withdraw form on their website. ISSS will need to terminate your SEVIS record once you have withdrawn and will notify you that your record has been terminated.
To enact a total withdrawal, submit a Withdrawal Application (see Forms at www.registrar.usf.edu) to the University Registrar's Office. To be eligible for a 25% refund of registration fees and tuition paid, less building and capital improvement fees.

The course prefix is a three-letter designator for a major division of an academic discipline, subject matter area, or subcategory of knowledge. The prefix is not intended to identify the department in which a course is offered. Rather, the content of a course determines the assigned prefix to identify the course.

This course is designed to answer the question, “What are the things people beginning their formal study of education should know?” Included in the course is an introduction to the history and philosophies of education where you will gain an understanding of some of the issues that have impacted schooling in the U.S. and begin to form your philosophy of education. You will review and discuss The Florida Educator Accomplished Practices, The Florida Code of Ethics for Teachers, contemporary problems in education related to socio-cultural issues, and state and federal mandates. This is an accelerated, 8-week online course that is asynchronous. This means you will have discussion-based participation requirements with specific due dates but you can log on anytime during the week to participate. We do not meet on a specific day of the week as this offers students maximum flexibility in participation.
This course provides a broad overview of the gerontology profession and the theoretical basis that guide generalist gerontology interventions from a psychological viewpoint. It is designed to give the student an overview of the aging process from a psychological perspective by studying such topics as major theories of aging, stereotypes about aging and older adults, changes in physical & cognitive health, research methods in aging, cognition, emotion, behaviors, and social relationships during later life. A brief history of gerontology is presented, with emphasis on the effects of social forces in shaping the profession today and in the future. The reciprocal relationship of gerontology, social science and human behavior will be presented. The focus will be on the interdisciplinary social sciences and human behavior research and the relationship of that research/theory and field work to practice. An additional purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with both the implicit and explicit values upon which professional practice is based. Value problems and dilemmas will be presented and will be addressed throughout the course as the fields of practice, research and policy development, client systems, and beginning methods of intervention are discussed in terms of the aging client’s needs. Special emphasis will be placed on sensitizing students to understanding cultural diversity and its impact on social functioning and the concepts of non-discrimination and ethnic-sensitive practice. In addition, students will be expected to examine their values as an integral part of professional development and in planning for/anticipation of their field experience. The NASW (National Association of Social Workers) Code of Ethics and other ethical models will be discussed in order to familiarize student with these codes and how they influence professional practice decisions with clientele of any age.
