Beautiful little book; though the line drawing would be more useful in a coffee table size. But to have close by when visiting a beautiful church, this is a wonderful resource. McNamara does a great job of briefly describing not only the architectural but also theological significance of the many various designs elements of churches.

Denis McNamara is a former lecturer in architectural history at the University of Virginia and has written two books on Christian architecture. He is currently assistant director of the Liturgical Institute, University of St. Mary of the Lake, Mundelein, Illinois.
