How do I extend my course at BYU?

Course Duration If additional time is needed, a 3-month extension may be purchased for a fee of $20 before the course expires. If the course has expired, please call Customer Support to discuss options. You may purchase one course extension per course, but once the extensions is over, no additional time is permitted.

All courses offer a 90-day extension option for $20 that can be purchased once. All final exams (and coursework) must be completed before course expiration. Course extensions must be processed before the course expiration date.

You may not resubmit assignments (instructor-graded or computer-graded).

Exams & Retakes

Unless there is a noted exception in your course syllabus, you must pass the final exam in order to receive course credit. Therefore, if necessary, you may contact Independent Study to request one retake of the final exam for a fee of $15.
