If you take a mission that is just out of your jump range, open the galaxy map and cursor over the system you want to get to, after that, hit R1 to cycle through a few options. One of those options are "Plot Course" which will set up a route that can get you where you need to go!

It was an actual place, because I entered it into the search bar and the map moved to the labelled star, but I can't plot it for some reason. sounds like theres locked systems between you and your destination. sometimes you can plot routes around the systems to get to where you want to go.
Jan 09, 2017 · Go to the tab with the miniature groupstars on it (directly to the right of Bookmarks) Click on the Map style. Under Filters, choose Show By Colour --> Star Class. Uncheck every star class except: OBAFGKM. Plot your route to a remote star system. You should only be guided to scoopable star classes.
To plot a course to any system, select it in the galaxy map and then select the "plot course" button. ED will then attempt to plot a course to the selected system using the ship you are currently in and the FSD you have installed on the ship. If it can plot a route, it will do - using as many jumps as necessary to get you there.
Oct 05, 2015 · Economical routes makes your system plot very short distance jumps to use less fuel. So you can get farther with the same amount of fuel, but obviously it takes more jumps and more time. With fastest routes, the system always makes use of your maximum jump range. You can't get quiet as far with your fuel tank, but you get there in less jumps.
If you can't see your destination on the screen, type it into the blank box under the Navigation tab, then hit Enter - the map view will whizz along to your destination. To have the game calculate your waypoints, click on the star in the map, then select 'Plot Route'.Dec 1, 2020

If your range is so low (it may well be in starting ships) that there is no possible combination of hops to get you to your destination then the route plotter will fail. The easiest way to fix it is to get a better FSD, downgrade/upgrade modules to D grade (lightest) or remove modules if possible.Dec 28, 2016
