Well luckily Torrey Pines is a lot like Bethpage Black in New York, in that it is entirely possible to play both golf courses there. The North course is thought to be easier than the South but despite that it still plays over 7,200 yards.
Torrey Pines South costs $202–$252 for nonresidents, but is $63–$78 for San Diego residents. The North is around the same price, but slightly cheaper. It's $128-$160 for nonresidents and $44-$58 for locals.
Most of the golfers at Torrey will be walking the course. You can rent a cart but it's an extra 40 bucks and you can't really enjoy the course as much from a cart as you can while walking. Push carts are available from the pro shop for $10. 8.
Effective 11/1/21, the yearly renewal rate is $175. Current members may renew their memberships for $175 if renewal is accomplished on or before their one-year membership expiration date (members may find their membership expiration date by viewing Anniversary Date located in MY ACCOUNT / MY INFO after website logon).

A City Resident Photo Golf ID Card is required. To qualify for the “discounted” City resident green fees you MUST check-in with one of the Resident Photo Golf ID Cards (issued by the City), AND your tee time has to have been made by using one of the player's assigned – “Resident Computer Reservation System Number.”
It is very difficult: Extraordinary length, narrow fairways, deep rough, punishing bunkers and multi-tiered greens make it one of the toughest layouts anywhere. And you can't argue with the theater of 2008 or the champion it identified. On both counts Torrey gets an A+.
The fairways and rough was hard to play. It felt like hitting a rock. Fairway also wasn't in the best conditions and greens were very slow. The south course is pretty hard to play very narrow with tons of bunkers.
Dress code is pretty lax, and fivesomes are permitted. (We were behind a fivesome during my round on the South, which took about 4:40.) That said, the staff at Torrey Pines was exceedingly friendly, which can also be said for much of the tourist and service industry around San Diego.
The North Course is shorter and less expensive than its brother. For many, it is more scenic than the South, having more picture-perfect opportunities along the track. The North Course is more popular for the less-experienced golfer but will still put up a good fight for the better ones.
$575Pebble Beach green fees for a standard round are a whopping $550 per person and will increase to $575 on April 1, 2020. In addition to that initial price, it costs $45 per person to use a cart. If you choose to go the caddie route and walk, which is recommended, the caddie fee will run you another $95 per bag.
The Torrey Pines South Course is the more challenging of the two and is the host of the 2008 & 2021 U.S. Open Championships. The South course was originally designed by William Bell, Sr. in 1957, and is home to the Farmers Insurance Open PGA Golf Tournament (along with the North Course).
