Golf fans have been screaming out for a new golf video game for years and when it was announced that PGA Tour 2K21 was set to be released this summer, it's safe to say we all got a little bit excited. We've now learnt a lot more about the new game hitting stores later this month and it even includes a feature that lets you design your very own golf course.
Clubhouses? Check. Cacti? Sure. Squirrels and skyscrapers? If you say so! It’s all there for building, and you’re the master architect. Once your madcap masterpiece is complete, you can share it with players around the world and across all platforms.
Way back in the old Tiger Woods games, the Highlands was a popular created course. The fantasy links style course has a lot of elevated dog leg holes. It is set on the side of a cliff, so missing a fairway can result in a pretty large penalty. In the Highlands, players will have to pick good lines and shape shots to put themselves in position to make birdies. The course's fairways are unbelievably thin, and massive bunkers are located around every corner. People will understand the struggle of this course when they take a look at the first green, which has red lines as far as the eye can see. Good luck shooting par on this course.
His Goose's Nemesis course is more like a carnival than a golf course. Hilarious hazards, animals, and obstacles line every single hole. Before every hole, people will wonder how reaching the flag is even a possibility. It is easier to hit the ball into a hazard 10 times in a row than get a par.
Mars has firm and fast greens with extremely long Par 5s. Getting to the hole in two on the longer Par 4s and 5s is seemingly impossible. Greens on the course are large, but have a lot of contours to them. As expected, there are a lot of elevation changes throughout as well.
The course is brilliantly designed and actually looks like it was based off of a real course. The obstacles on the course include nets, funnels, and ramps among other things. Players can use the walls and dividers to get as close to the hole as possible, offering plenty of risk/reward opportunities. The putt putt course is one of the better created courses to enjoy with friends online.
Every hole is a par 7, and gamers will certainly have some absurd scores. For just messing around with a group of buddies online , there is no better course to play. Greens are shaped to almost ensure a birdie if the ball is on the green.
With 39 PGA Tour 2K21 courses mixing the real and the fake, the successor to The Golf Club packs plenty of variety. To the point that it's tough to know where to start: PGA Tour 2K21 delivers a tidy array of environments in which to go clubbing, whether you're looking for iron-swinging fun or elite competitiveness. Below we profile ten of the most enjoyable, before providing a rundown of the complete PGA Tour 2K21 courses list.
One of the most well-known PGA Tour 2K21 courses, Sawgrass is a very enjoyable 7,285-yard, par-72 home to the Players Championship. A verdant course across countryside, it features a bit of everything. On one hand, there's dangerous water, sand, and pine needle hazards; on the other, it has spacious fairways and greens. It's actually got some of the nicest in-between camera shots panning the landscape and the famous clubhouse too. The highlight is its island-green par-3 17th, which can make or break your round right at the end of it.
It's a lush parkland affair that's not too challenging so can be a great confidence booster. Riviera is a 71-par course, stretching 7,325 yards.
It's beautiful but also quietly deadly, with plenty of hazards close to target landing areas that can easily ruin your round. The 2nd and 3rd holes going across and alongside the watercourses are excellent, and balance the beauty and risk of great golf holes well.
Another well-known real-world course, TPC Scottsdale is home to the brilliantly-titled Waste Management Phoenix Open. The hazard follows you around most of the holes on the course, posing a constant threat. The main highlight is the infamous 16th, which is a par-3 completely encased by viewing stands and crowds, and despite being only 160-odd yards, can make or break the round given the desert waste bunkers presence, and four green-side bunkers. You have to be accurate here.
By. Kevin Scott. Published on April 12, 2021. Even though PGA Tour 2K21 has established a reputation for realism dating back to when the game was originally The Golf Club, that doesn’t mean that everything needs to be true to life. When it comes to things like ball physics and competitive gameplay, it continues to be appreciated how developers ...
This course has it all: a thin layer of fog enveloping every hole that rises up from eternally bubbling black waters, ghost ships and planes hovering eerily in the air over fairways, and the disquieting presence of skeleton heads with live snakes wrapped around them waiting for you at each and every tee. Good luck trying to hit any of the cursed fairways while also worrying about whether or not those things are venomous (they are). Did I mention this course was built on a native burial ground or was that already just assumed?
When TGC 1 and 2 came out, it was all about creating courses and building societies that allowed you to play these user designed tracks. That has lessened dramatically since TGC 2019 came out, which was when 2K started getting involved and the PGA Tour license came into the picture.
The course creator is exactly the thing 2K can use to compete with EA's upcoming Golf game. Make all created courses playable in a career and there you go.
Based upon what's already announced by EA re: PGA stuff and what we likely know is coming in terms of visuals...It's not going to go well if 2k tries to compete on the PGA side of things unless they massively up their spending and completely overhaul things from a technical standpoint.
Getting the PGA Tour license meant that 2K21 had to release without Solo Societies, which was basically a way you could build a customized career mode in previous The Golf Club games.
The course creator is exactly the thing 2K can use to compete with EA's upcoming Golf game. Make all created courses playable in a career and there you go. The issue with that is, apparently, the PGA Tour won't let that happen.
