Over the Top is perhaps the most common swing fault among high handicap golfers. It occurs due to an overuse of the upper body on the downswing. As a result the club will be thrown on the outside of the intended swing plane with the club head approaching the ball from outside to in.

There's no way you're going to stop it, so let physics do the work for you.
Everything is perfect and you didn't have to do anything. You can literally just set yourself in that Rotary Drill position, tilt your spine, bump your weight to the left, and start to unwind. Your arms do absolutely nothing.
The purpose of the backswing is to build up energy - the purpose of the downswing is to conserve it for impact
A full shoulder turn is necessary to hit powerful golf shots, so make sure you are putting your back to the target as much as possible. During this backswing, your legs should remain steady, with that flex in your knees holding strong and your balance remaining a top priority.
Slice. The slice is the most-common ball flight problem found among amateur golfers, and many slices are the result of an arms-only swing. When you fail to use your body, especially in the downswing, the club is forced to go over the top just to be able to reach the ball at impact.
Start the downswing by turning your left hip open to the target, and allow the rest of your body to follow gradually. At this point, the club should be lagging behind the rest of your swing. Your arms should be 'coming along for the ride' rather than taking an active role.
Tempo is Essential. You must have good tempo to use your body effectively during the golf swing.

Really visualizing the shot you want to hit and feeling that shot with your practice swing means that you’ve already felt that swing you are about turn into reality. If you’ve practiced a drill during your practice swing you’ve wasted an opportunity to really connect with the shot and make your real swing more fluid, without controlling thoughts.

I spoke about this in my last article, which showed that elite golfers have a much more focused “Scan Path” between the ball at the target before swing ing. The higher handicapper has a much more erratic scan path, probably due to all the other thoughts they have going on.
Balance is a great swing thought. Your tempo is directly related your balance. During your swing, your weight moves between both feet and if you’re not well balanced you won’t make a good transition of your weight to maintain your tempo and rhythm.
Technique is more important when putting than it is during any other part of the game, as you have to be incredibly precise on the greens in order to have success. You can actually get away with having a few 'quirks' in your golf swing as long as you know how to work the ball back toward the target time after time.
By moving your stroke into your arms and shoulders, you will quickly gain an improved ability to manage the speed of your putts successfully. Dealing with nerves. Players who putt with their hands tend to struggle when they get nervous. Again, this comes back to the ability to control the speed of the stroke.
The standard arms-and- shoulder s stroke is relatively straightforward. Just follow these simple guidelines: 1 Set up with the forearms, wrists and hands forming a V, directly in line with or slightly ahead of the ball (e.g. closer to the target). 2 Maintain this V as you take the putter back, letting the arms and shoulders move freely while keeping the lower body still. The wrists do not break or hinge. 3 Return the putter to the ball while keeping the V intact. At impact, the arms, wrists and hands should mirror the address position. 4 Follow through with the V still in place.
Your performance over the long run will be vastly improved if you can avoid standing still for too long. Yes, you want to make sure that you are using your arms and shoulders to control the putting stroke. However, you don't want that to be the only thing you think about while practicing your technique.
