How do I migrate a Canvas quiz to New Quizzes? 1 Open Course. Click the Courses link [1] in Global Navigation, then click the name of the course [2] that contains the quiz you want to migrate. 2 Open Quizzes. 3 Migrate Quiz. 4 Open Quiz.
You can copy course content such as assignments, modules, pages, and discussions from previous Canvas courses into existing courses. You only have access to copy content from courses in which you are enrolled as a user with instructor permissions.
Additionally, imported assignments will retain their assignment posting policy from the original course. In Course Navigation, click the Settings link. Click the Import Course Content link. In the Content Type drop-down menu, select the Copy a Canvas Course option.
When you copy a Canvas course using the Copy this Course button, you will be added to the course as an instructor automatically. Learn more about the Course Import Tool. Course imports may not include all content.

Depending on how large your course is, this process may take several minutes to complete. You will be able to see the progress under the "Current Jobs" section of the Import Content page.
Question banks cannot be imported into New Quizzes as item banks. However, you can import questions manuallyinto an item bank by exporting a Canvas quiz. When a classic quiz is migrated to New Quizzes, question groups import as item bank questions.
How do I migrate a Canvas quiz to New Quizzes? You can migrate a quiz from Classic Quizzes to be used in New Quizzes. You can also migrate a survey from Classic Quizzes to New Quizzes. However, the survey will be migrated as a standard quiz as New Quizzes does not include a survey feature.
In Canvas, go to your destination course (the new course you wish to import content into) and select the Settings link in Course Navigation along the left side of the page.
Select Import Content into this Course from the navigation menu on the right.
To search for the correct source course you desire, start typing the course code into the Search for a Course field. Select the desired course as it appears below. Be sure to select the section and semester you desire.
When you select Adjust Events and Due Dates, new fields will appear. Fill the empty Beginning Date and End Date fields with the information of the source course (the course you wish to copy). The dates from your destination course (new course) are filled in for you.
Optional: If your destination course is scheduled to be on different days of the week from the source course, you may want to shift assignment dates to align with this change. You can do this by selecting substitutions in the dropdown menus of the Move From section.
Canvas also provides the option of importing select elements of another course. Please see this article for instructions:
To import all content from the course, select the All Content radio button [1]. If you want to select specific content, click the Select specific content radio button [2]. Note: If you select the specific content option, you are required to select the content you want to import after you review the remaining page options.
Importing a course more than once may have unintended consequences. If you import content into a new course, edit the content in the new course, and later import the previous content again, the imported content will override the existing content.

Once the content has been copied to the new course, there are a number updates/revisions that need to be made. Refer back to this list after you import your content.
In the Export Type heading, click the Course radio button [1]. Click the Create Export button [2].
View the progress bar. Exporting a course in Canvas may take a few minutes, depending on its size. You will receive an email when the export is complete.
Open the appropriate course that contains the quiz you want to migrate.
Find the quiz you want to migrate in your list of quizzes. Select the options icon (represented by the three vertical dots to the far right of the quiz name). Then select “migrate.”
Once the migration is complete, the migrated quiz will appear at the bottom of your Quizzes list with the New Quizzes icon. You can delete the old quiz once you confirm the migration is complete and accurate. Note: by default, migrated quizzes are unpublished.
