When new stand-alone courses (courses that do not belong to a program of study) are created in GeneSIS as part of Continuing Education (CE) activity, they must be submitted through GeneSIS for approval and activation by the Curriculum Administrator, outside of the regular ACR process.
The first section deals with major subjects, subjects which still engage the minds of thoughtful men in our day: the Creation, the Fall, the Flood, the Tower of Babel. The second section has to do with personalities: Abraham, the man of faith; Isaac, the beloved son; Jacob, the chosen and chastened son; and Joseph, his suffering and glory.

One of the best divisions which can be made of the Book of Genesis is according to the genealogies—i.e., according to the families. All of these are given to us in the Book of Genesis. It is a book of families. Genesis is an amazing book, and it will help us to look at it from this viewpoint.

Departments may then complete the Program Creation/Update Form (PUF) to prepare for program entry and activation in GeneSIS. The Curriculum Administrator provides support in completing the PUF and forwards the PUF to the Registrar’s Office for activation.

Longman’s story-centric approach is ideal for formal and informal students alike, and for everyone who wants to better understand Genesis in today’s world. The course is organized around three concepts applied to each passage in Genesis, listening to the story, explaining the story, and living the story.
This introductory course is designed to provide key insights into the book of Genesis by pulling together a number of key resources: overview videos from The Bible Project, helpful contextual information from The ESV Study Bible, commentary recommendations from The Gospel Coalition, a single sermon that sums up the book from beginning to end by Mark Dever, and much more. By watching, listening to, and reading these resources, you’ll be better prepared to read, study, teach, or preach the book of Genesis.
In fact, Genesis seems to reflect very well its origin in the second millennium B.C. (Moses lived in the 1500s or 1300s).
Further, the book is narrative prose, whose main function in the Bible is to recount history. The creation account, Genesis 1:1–2:3, is stylistically different from the rest of the book; it is exalted prose, and its historicity is assumed elsewhere in the Bible (e.g., Ps. 136:4–9 ). (See Genesis and Science, below.)
It tells how God created the world as very good, but that it was destroyed in the flood as a result of man’s disobedience. The new world after the flood was also spoiled by human sin (ch. 11). The call of Abraham, through whom all the nations would be blessed, gives hope that God’s purpose will eventually be realized through Abraham’s descendants (ch. 49).
The English title “Genesis” comes from the Greek translation of the Pentateuch and means “origin,” a very apt title because Genesis is all about origins—of the world, of the human race, of sin, and of the Jewish people. The Hebrew title is translated “In the Beginning,” using the first phrase in the book.
When twins are born to Isaac, a long struggle takes place between Esau and his younger brother Jacob. After Esau sells his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of stew ( Gen. 25:29–34 ), Jacob deceptively gets from Isaac the firstborn blessing ( Gen. 27:27–29 ).
Abandoning their priestly and royal duties, the human couple rebel against God and betray him by acting on the serpent’s suggestions ; their willful disobedience radically affects human nature and the harmonious order of creation ( Gen. 3:1–24; 6:5–6 ).
The Book of Genesis is one of the two important key books of the Bible. The book that opens the Old Testament (Genesis) and the book that opens the New Testament (Matthew) are the two books which I feel are the key to the understanding of the Scriptures.
For instance, “these are the generations of” is an important expression used frequently because the Book of Genesis gives the families of early history. That is important to us because we are members of the human family that begins here.
Let me give you a bird’s–eye view of Genesis, a view that will cover the total spectrum of the book. There are certain things that you should note because the Book of Genesis is, actually, germane to the entire Scripture.
The main working addresses of Library Genesis are as follows. There are several competing claims as to which is the “official Library Genesis” sites, but in my experience, they all work fine (if one of the links is down, just try another):
So, you should now be at a page that looks like one of the 2 screenshots below – this is the main search page of Library Genesis.
So, now you should be seeing one of the 2 screens below, depending on which site you are using (click on image to show larger version). You can click on the relevant headers – “Authors”, “Title”, “Publisher”, “Year”, “Pages”, “Language”, “Size” and “Extension” – to sort the columns.
You’ll see on the right hand side of the screen 3 or 5 download mirror links in the “mirrors” column – depending on which site you are on.
You can also click on the book title – this will take you to the following page:
DECEMBER 2020 – To make it slightly confusing, the different libgen sites now have a different order of mirrors
If you are unsure of which mirror link goes to which mirror, just hover your mouse over the link – the url will be displayed in the bottom left of your browser like so:
