You can use this voltage programmed regulator circuit with typical DC-to-DC converters, converting them to variable output, PWM controlled, or voltage-controlled linear or switching regulators. Figure 1 shows a typical circuit configuration for a fixed output voltage linear regulator.
Electronic circuit can never work with ACs and therefore this voltage should be transformed into a DC. A diode is one device which effectively converts an AC to DC, there are three configurations through which basic power supply designs may be configured.
Current passes through Variac, VT1 which adjusts the input voltage to the OBT. The OBT steps up the input voltage to a maximum of 6,000 VAC. The output of the OBT is fed to the high voltage multiplier, HVM where it is multiplied to 51,000 VDC output. To de-energize the supply, place S2 in the OFF position.

When high efficiency is needed, or a wide range of input voltage is expected, a switching regulator becomes the best option. Switching voltage regulators have power efficiencies of 85% or better compared to linear voltage regulator efficiencies that are often below 50%.

When an AC mains voltage is applied to its terminals, each of its windings is subjected to different discrete levels of voltage through magnetic induction, generated by the interaction between the iron core and the windings.
The body is basically made up of a laminated iron core with hundreds of copper windings well secured inside a metal frame.
When the control voltage is high, the op-amp output goes toward ground, pulling the feedback pin low.
The circuit works well with linear regulators and most switching regulators. However, some step-down switching regulators can not be driven all the way down to zero duty cycle; they are limited by a minimum ON time for their high-side switch. Despite that, some of those regulators will skip pulses or lower their frequency to gracefully dial down to nearly zero output, but others may operate only at a fixed frequency. For those, you may need to take special measures to assure positive shut-off.
Switching regulator stability. There are many linear and switching regulator ICs that allow you to set their output voltage using a fixed resistor voltage divider, but few that are voltage programmable. Usually, you can set the output voltage to any fixed voltage greater than an internal reference voltage. But you may need a power supply ...
The diagram shows the supply in the de-energized condition and the case closed. Mains voltage is applied to the power supply thru a 120 VAC Panel connector.
All the parts with the exception of the variac used for voltage control came from my junk collection or Ebay. Here's the list: CHASSIS - Texas Instruments TI99 Computer case. Any metal box will do as long as there is enough room for the parts. An electrical box will do just fine.
If your box has stuff in it, gut it. Take everything out of it except essential parts. I kept the power switch and the AC Adaptor. Everything else, GONE! If your box has HANDSIZED holes in it, patch em. You don't want little ones (or a nosey neighbor) sticking their paw in the box with power on.
Decide if you are going to include a power contactor and case safety switch. If so, use the first schematic.
Depending on how you built your multiplier, you need to mount it to the chassis so it doesn't move around.
SAFETY FIRST! ALWAYS wear rubber safety gloves and stand on a rubber safety mat when operating this supply. ALWAYS wear protective goggles when power is on.
So we need a heatsink and a cooling fan. Though LTC3780 dc converter has an inbuilt heatsink and this converter doesn't heat up. You can skip the additional heatsink. I'm here additional heatsink for better efficiency.
This is an amazing material cause it is easy to cut, bend and sand. it's also so affordable. You can use the acrylic sheet to make your own power supply. So let's get started. First, take a measurement of acrylic sheet. Cut the acrylic sheets according to the marking. Place the voltmeter display and mark it.
As can be demonstrated the fine/coarse ratio is defined by m, R s 2 = m ⋅ R s 1 , The impedance swing is defined solely by the potentiometers R p 2 = m ⋅ R p 1

The IC LM 317 is a highly versatile device which is normally incorporated with power supplies for obtaining well regulated and variable voltage/current outputs. A few power supply example circuits using this IC
This is because no electronics can run without power, to be precise a low voltage DC power, and a power supply unit is a device which is specifically meant for fulfilling this purpose.
A diode is one device which effectively converts an AC to DC, there are three configurations through which basic power supply designs may be configured . You may also want to learn how to design a bench power supply.
Page 56 in analog seekrets shows that paralleling a pot with a resistor of 1/10th of the pot value makes it severely non linear and can actually decrease the rotational sensitivity.
Yes, I wondered that - I just bunged it in a spreadsheet now and checked it. Most of the variation is compressed to one end of the travel. If you replace the fixed resistor with progressively higher values it becomes more linear, of course - but you lose the ratio-increase.
