Add a URL Resource to a Course Page
In the Enter a URL field, enter the Web address for the link. (ptional) To create a link to a resource or activity in this Moodle course, on the course page, right-click the link to the item and choose Copy the link address. (Options in the right-click context menu vary depending on the browser in use.)
If the external source cannot accept connections in the standard format that Moodle provides, and you have access and control over the external source, then a server add-on called mod_rewrite could be used to make them interoperate. You can pass up to 5 parameters in the URL.
A Moodle course can allow self enrolment and it is on its own. I would like to see what you have done for this to NOT be the case. Perhaps you created all your "Courses" in one big Moodle course and in that case it will need to be split.
Although it's easy to generate content directly in Moodle, you can also upload any type of electronic file you like. All you need to do is make sure your students can access it with the appropriate software on their computers. Once you've added a file to your files area, you can easily add it as a resource for your students.

Re: Link to another page/resource within Moodle Say you want to link to page 2 from page 1. Load up page 2 and copy its url. Then go back to page 1, turn on the editing and in the html editor click on the 'chain/link' icon to make a hyperlink. Paste the url of page 2 into there and save your page 1.

Meta Link is a useful feature provided in Moodle that allows you to have multiple sections of a course in one Moodle course site instead of in individual, separate ones. This is useful for simplifying and managing courses more efficiently.
In a course, with the editing turned on, choose URL from the activity chooser and give it a helpful name. in External URL, type the web address of the site you want to link to, or click the Choose a link button to access other options. Include the full https:// at the start.
You can display a link to your course on Moodle.net.Go to Course administration > Share (only available to users with the capability moodle/course:publish)Click the button 'Share this course for people to join'Enter information about the course.Click the 'Share this course' button.
Enabling teachers to add meta linksGo to Site Administration > Users > Permissions > Define Roles.Select the Teacher Role and click on the Edit button.Scroll down to Course Meta Link as shown in the images below:
In the Settings module, navigate to Course administration -> Users -> Enrollment methods. Use the Add method drop-down menu to select Course meta link. Use the Link course drop-down menu to choose one of the other sections/courses you wish to merge into the metacourse.
A metacourse is a type of umbrella or parent course that draws its enrollments from child courses that are linked to it. The main advantage of a metacourse is that it allows professors to create and update a single Moodle site for identical sections rather than maintaining multiple Moodle sites.
The Course meta link makes it possible for all users enrolled in one course to be automatically enrolled in one or more other courses. The Course meta link plugin needs to be enabled both on the site level by the site admin and has to be enabled within the course.
Examples of meta-linked courses. Created - a child course and a meta course. Associating one child course and one meta course. Examples: one "child" course (a course linked to a meta course) can be associated with many meta courses. Or one meta course can have many child courses associated with it.
There is one limitation: you cannot 'nest' metacourses. In other words, if you have child course A linked to meta course B, and you then link B as a child course to meta course C, a student enrolled in A will be added to B, but not to C.
I have tried to read up on this subject and finding it difficult, the videos ive watched doesn't really show how to link a competency to a course. The stage im at is as follows:-
Hello. I am not familiar with the Adaptable theme but in 3.2 the competencies link for non-Boost themes was moved to the Navigation block -so you should find it there.
Senior moment here lol.. Yes i have it just didnt expand it for the menu..
Why the hack would someone put it there? We use Adaptable .. and it took me a lot of frustration tolerance and 2 hours to find your hint and of course the link that helps me to link competencies to a course. It's a clear issue to hide it there. In my humble opinion it should be under "course administration" too.
did you solve this? I'm facing the same issue - can't find how to link competencies to a course/ activities into the course.
Ely- how far have you got in your searches? Have you added competencies to the site already? If so then you should be able to add them to a course either by clicking the link Competencies in the navigation drawer if you are using the Boost theme or the link in the navigation block if you are not.
Thank you! yes I found it in the end. Basically my theme was not showing the course administration panel
Managing a Moodle course 1 Courses - how to set up your courses. 2 Editing text - how to use the text editor and what the icons mean. 3 Activities - how to involve students actively in their learning. 4 Resources - how to add static materials to your course. 5 Blocks - how to add extra items and information to the sides of your course page. 6 Questions - how to create questions for use in quizzes and Moodle's lesson module 7 Course enrolment - how to give students access to your course. 8 Grouping users - how to put students into groups and why this is useful. 9 Grades - how to use the gradebook, scales and advanced grading methods. 10 Tracking progress - how to control and display progress through a course. 11 Reusing activities - how to copy or recycle elements of your course.
Progress can be tracked in a number of ways. Students can be enrolled manually by the teacher, automatically by the administrator, or they can be allowed to enrol themselves. Students can also be added to groups if they need to be separated from classes sharing the same course or if tasks need to be differentiated.
Although it's easy to generate content directly in Moodle, you can also upload any type of electronic file you like. All you need to do is make sure your students can access it with the appropriate software on their computers.
Adding media content can help you communicate some ideas and processes more easily than text alone. Imagine trying to teach a language without learners able to hear it spoken. Or trying to learn how volcanoes work with either seeing a video or an animation. Fortunately, Moodle makes it easy to add rich media content to your course.
You may type the summary of the resource here. This will be displayed on the resources index page. The summary is also displayed below the Moodle navigation controls in the top frame, if the window settings are set to open the linked resource in frames.
Type in the url of the file or web page here. You may use the two buttons below to help you.
You can choose whether to force files stored in Moodle to be downloaded, rather than being displayed in the browser window.
Note: parameters are quite an advanced feature. Some knowledge of how web forms pass information to web pages is required.
You can hide the resource from students by selecting "Hide" here. It is useful if you wouldn't like to make the activity available immediately.
