Log in to a Canvas course as an instructor. Click Settings in the left course menu. Click the Navigation tab on the Settings page. Click the Student View button. The Student View opens in a magenta colored frame.

To view the page as a test student, click the Student View button. You can now view the course as a student user would see it. For example, students cannot see the Settings navigation link like instructors can.

To test whether students can see content in a published course, switch to Student view, which is available across almost all areas of Canvas. Just look for the "Student View" button in the top right and give it a try!
A course site isn't visible to students until the instructor manually publishes the Canvas site. If the semester/term has already started and you are definitely registered for the course, contact your instructor and ask them to publish the course. You may have previously set your Courses List to show other courses.
Open Student View You can access Student View from most areas of the course including: Home, Modules, Assignments, Announcements, Discussions, Quizzes, Pages, Syllabus, and Outcomes. To view the page as a test student, click the Student View button.
After you have added the course to one of the two worksheets, your enrollment will be processed in up to 2 hours. Check back after 2 hours to ensure that the course is listed on your Dashboard page.
When a course's events and assignments are hidden the color display in gray. Click again to display the events again. Each student also has a personal calendar as well. The colors associated with a course can be changed by clicking the three dots next to the course title.
If students can't see an assignment or a quiz, check the release date. If students can't see an assignment or a quiz, and you are delivering it through modules, make sure both assignment/quiz and module is published. Also check the release date of module.

ByBrittney. The People option can be found in the course navigation of your Canvas course. From the list, click the name of a user to see their profile. On the page that appears, you can see all the details about that user.
The Student View option allows instructors to quickly check the appearance and function of the course as a student.
Another option is to enroll yourself as a student in your course with an FPS account. Note: You can create one FPS account for each email address or email address alias that you have access to.
Test Student data that involves interactions with other students are retained even if the test student is removed from section enrollments. Attendance, conferences, conversations inbox, collaborations, differentiated assignments, external apps, groups, peer reviews, and profiles do not work for the Test Student.

You can only view the course layout as it is seen by your students. You cannot view student-specific information, such as conversations between students. Student View should not be used to test MasteryPaths in the beta or test environment.
Each Canvas course has a separate Test Student account. Whenever you move to a new course you will need to enable Student View for that course. Submissions and scores for the Test Student do not affect course analytics. You can only view the course layout as it is seen by your students.
