Each skill is worth a total of 100 Mastery Points. As you practice skills and answer questions in quizzes, unit tests, and course challenges, your level for that skill will go up (or down, if you miss any questions in the course). Moving to Familiar will earn you 50 of the 100 points. Leveling up to Proficient will get you to 80 points.
For every chapter or topic, you always start at Mastery Level 1, and your first few quizzes will include relatively easy questions. As you do well on each quiz, you’ll move up to Mastery Level 2 and more difficult questions...and so on. There are eight (8) Mastery Levels in all.

The overall fraction of mastery points for that course that you have achieved. The percentage of the course that you have mastered. Courses also have a Course Challenge Card at the bottom where you can take an assessment that covers a sampling of skills from the entire course.
A Mastery Level assignment requires you to take quizzes on a specific chapter in PrepU until you reach a designated Mastery Level goal (as set by your instructor). You will see a different number of questions, depending on how quickly you reach the target Mastery Level. For example, you may need to reach a Mastery Level of 3 for Chapter 13.

Nationwide, 87.9 percent of students passed the NCLEX, while 98.7 percent of PrepU users passed. Students who used PrepU passed the NCLEX after answering an average of 104 questions, compared to the national average of answering 121 questions to pass.
