Do the courses expire? If you are going to use NASM Connected Continuing Education for a certification renewal, we suggest verifying your renewal guidelines to ensure they are completed within an acceptable timeframe. Are there tests with these courses? Courses that offer continuing education credits will have a test.
To determine if an outside provider course is approved by NASM or AFAA, please visit the Approved Providers list (s) on our site. If the course you completed is not through an existing Approved Provider, you can still petition it for review. For more information on the Recertification Guidelines and petition details, please click here.

It is highly regarded and accepted by almost all gyms and health and fitness establishments. But we can go on and on about how popular NASM is, let's look at the stats. As far as enrollment figures go, NASM has the highest of all the top NCCA accredited certifications, with a 2019 figure of 22,304 trainers enrolling.
The standard NASM certification program is a 10-week online course. Candidates can also participate in a hands-on, live workshop component in addition to the online course. Start to finish, participants can expect to invest in approximately 10-12 weeks to complete the online modules and prepare for the exam.
The NASM Nutrition Certification is a highly respected program that will arm fitness professionals with essential knowledge, dietary trends, and behavioral change strategies. The program is immersive and engaging and written by well respected nutritional experts. Given the price point, this program is full of value.
You must score a 70% or higher on the exam to pass.
It all depends on your career path and goals. If you want to work with general populations, ACE will suffice. Whereas if you want to focus more on corrective exercise techniques, then NASM would be a better option.
The ISSA-CPT certification exam is open book, which makes it extremely manageable in terms of passing probability. The current pass rate is 89.9%. Not only is ISSA the easiest certification to pass, but it is also one of my top three overall certifications.
C. Subscriptions. Some NASM offerings are subscription based. For these products, NASM offers two types of subscriptions, depending on the product: auto-renewing and manual renewals. Please refer to the product descriptions on our website or herein to determine the type of subscriptions available for the product.
If you take coursework that is not pre-approved, you must fill out a petition application for AFAA’s review and, at AFAA’s sole discretion, approval of the course. If approved, AFAA will determine the number of CEUs to award for the course. Your CPR/AED certification must be current in order to recertify or renew.
If a workshop offers Continuing Education Units ("CEUs"), the CEUs are only awarded to attendees (a) who held a current certification at the time of the workshop and (b) who complete the workshop. To “complete” an in-person workshop you must attend the entire workshop.
In 2020, NASM acquired certain assets of PTA Global, including its certified personal trainer offering that is accredited by the NCCA (PTAG-CPT), other credentials offered by PTAG and continuing education courses.

Hello everyone and happy Sunday (Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and motherly figures out there!)
Hi r/personaltraining I’m a newly certified NASM CPT and I recently quit my job at an LA Fitness about a month ago because it wasn’t what I wanted at all and quite honestly it has turned me off ever working in a corporate setting ever again.
I've been training a few friends on and off for the past couple months, i've got a small gym setup in my basement that works well - but no access to a real gym due to lockdowns still. I've passed my NASM cert.
I'm a self-employed personal trainer at a small gym, I also am a manager at said gym. I started training about 6 months ago and have built up a good client base and have been doing well over-all and feel really happy where I'm headed in my career.
Hi, I am a newly certified personal trainer. I'm excited to get started, but I want to make sure I get the legal stuff taken care of first. I have a sample Liability waiver from ace, but I'm not sure where to find the right kind of professional to revise the waiver to make sure it is valid in my state.
