Note: Connect Carolina identifies a student’s classification by credit hours, so a first year student with by-exam (BE) credit may be identified as a sophomore on a FYS class roster.

FALL TERM REGISTRATION

Incoming first-year students fill out a first-year interest survey. Students have the option to select their top 10 FYS. Based on the survey results, students may be pre-registered for a fall FYS. The rest of the seats are released during New Student Orientation (NSO) registration sessions over the course of the summer.

SPRING TERM REGISTRATION

First-year students who are not enrolled in a Fall FYS receive priority registration for Spring FYS. The priority registration window lasts for the first few days of first-year student registration (per the Registrar’s schedule for registration by terms in residence).

INSTRUCTOR CONSENT

On the morning of the first day of class, scheduling officers can add “instructor consent” to FYS in ConnectCarolina if the instructor would like to exercise more control over enrollment in their FYS.
