Who can take an eLearning course at YCDSB?

Courses are open to YCDSB students and students from other school boards in Ontario. Summer School eLearning is conducted through the Continuing Education Department. For more information, to see course offerings, and to register please visit our Continuing Education page.

What if I have trouble logging in to my YCDSB account?

If you are experiencing difficulties logging in, contact YCDSB at 1-888-767-4778 option # 3. Q. Will I receive notification of my registration? Yes. You will receive an email confirmation from the Continuing Education Dept., after you have completed and submitted your registration form and your payment has successfully been processed.

When does YRDSB student registration begin and end?

Current YRDSB student registration begins on January 25, 2022 and ends February 23, 2022. may be eligible to take an Online Learning Night School course. The registration period for external applicants is December 6, 2021 - February 23, 2022. For current YRDSB students, the registration period is January 25 - February 23, 2022.

2021-2022 Night School Credit Classes

Please be advised that our traditional in class face-to-face Night School program will move to a remote learning delivery model. The program will be delivered virtually in real-time (synchronous).

Students Attending YRDSB Day Schools

On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, registration will open on my Pathway Planner . The first night of class is Thursday, February 17, 2022.

Students Attending NON-YRDSB Secondary Schools

Registration will open Tuesday, January 4, 2022. The first night of class is Thursday, February 17, 2022. Non-YRDSB students register online to select their course. Once submitted, a form is emailed to them.

What happens if a class is cancelled at YCDsB?

YCDSB makes every effort to ensure all scheduled classes run. However if a class/program is cancelled due to low enrolment or lack of teacher availability, then you will be notified via email from the Continuing Education Dept., informing you of the cancellation and your payment will be refunded.

What is the extension number for YCDSB?

Every effort will be made to communicate any class cancellations. Should classes be cancelled due to inclement weather or an emergency of some type; staff, students, parents and adults will need to refer to the YCDSB website or call the Continuing Education Department at 416-221-5051 extension 13609. eLearning.

What is asynchronous learning?

Our model of delivering eLearning courses is referred to as “asynchronous”. That means that students and their teacher don’t have to be on-line at the same time. Asynchronous eLearning makes it possible for students to log on to a virtual learning environment at any time of the day or week and download documents or send messages to teachers or peers. This approach is the most flexible of all eLearning course formats.

Does ETS4U require hard copy?

One course ( Studies in Literature-ETS4U) requires hard copy readers. Regardless of the course, you will engage in lots of reading and writing, but you also do lots of listening and viewing of non-print resources. You will apply new understandings and develop the learning skills and work habits necessary for success.

Can I enroll in eLearning in grade 9?

Currently, eLearning courses are not suggested nor readily available for students in grade 9. To enroll, students must receive permission from their guidance counsellor and parent (s)/guardian (s). The student’s guidance counsellor will help complete the registration process for enrolling in eLearning.

2021-2022 Sessions

Fall 2021: September 21, 2021 to January 17, 2022 The registration period for external applicants is August 30 - September 28, 2021, and for current YRDSB students is September 14 -28, 2021. Review the registration , course list, and important dates pages prior to applying.
